Here’s my take on the sketch

IMG_3039

The image was created with the aid of my Cameo and cut into four, coloured with Copics, I stamped and die cut a little butterfly and coloured also with Copics , glossy accents  added hither and thither, don’t know if you can see the thither but if you look closely you will see it !

Four tarty crystals in the centre and a touch of layering and there you have my little kitschy card. This photo does not do it justice it’s ever so classy in real life,  honest !

The winner of our challenge will join us as guest designer for May.

Do pop over to Get Creative and see what the other DT members have come up with and welcome our guest designer Meletini who has created two fabulous cards for us.

That’s all from me folks off to Pilates, something I haven’t done for two months now so wish me luck !

Take care

Get Creative February 20th Card sketch challenge

Hello lovely ladies !

It’s the 20th of the month and time for our final challenge for February over at Get Creative . Our lovely leader Irini has given us this fantastic sketch to work with

Come and see what I made :-

I recently  bought the Majestic Elements Nestabilities dies from Spellbinders and couldn’t wait to play with them, because of the intricate design spellbinders recommend the use of freezer paper or something similar, I used baking parchment together with the cardstock in order for the paper to release more easily from the die . I loved the result so much that I decided to use the parchment instead of the card. On the larger of the two pieces I stamped this pretty doily from the set Delicate Doilies by Inspired by Stamping with Deep Purple Archival ink and then added another layer of parchment on top , I really love how the stamp shows through. I made a couple of rosettes with some lovely SU design paper and added a little flower to embellish the centre .

Here’s another card I made following the same sketch

IMG_2842

The DP is from the Pixie Glen collection from Prima and I used Spellbinders Decorative Elements dies to cut the frames, the beautiful crocheted broach in the centre was created by our leader Irini and is from her Etsy shop Get Creative Embellishments.  I added a couple of sticks pins which I coloured with Copic markers in order to match the paper

The winner of this challenge will come back as guest designer in April

Please pop over to Get Creative to see the fabulous inspirational pieces by the DT, you have until the 27th of February to upload your card .

Have been having a few health problems this week and have been confined to bed  one of the disadvantages with my studio not being at home is that I have been unable to blog or comment the past few days . My iPad is very selective and so have not been able to visit you all. In order to schedule this post I have left home to come to my studio in the pouring rain in my PJ’s and a very long coat to hide my indecency ! Fortunately it’s not too far but I do look a bit like a homeless old lady !

Take care and hopefully I will catch up with you soon

Get Creative 5th January Card Challenge

Hello lovely ladies and HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!!!!

I’m finally back in my crafty den after three weeks working flat-out in my shop for the Christmas holidays. I really missed you all and your crafty endeavors and hopefully I can now start to catch up .

Over at Get Creative we have our first card challenge of the new year and our lovely leader Irini is asking us to make a new years card.

I had a little problem  as  the Christmas spirit just didn’t visit me this year not even in the alcoholic form. Mr P and I are still trying to fight off a nasty flu virus which has firmly attached itself to both of us and refuses to budge !

Needless to say Christmas lunch which I cooked for 12 was left untouched by myself and as soon as it was served I retreated to my bed and then a repeat performance occurred for new year !!

As you will see my card apart from having the number 13 isn’t  a typical new years card but I wanted to demonstrate growth, colour and nature and new beginnings and it you believe that  you will believe anything !

Despite everything I really enjoyed making this card and loved the outcome which is a rare thing indeed for me, I can count on the fingers of one hand how many of my cards I really like, so here it is and hope you like it too !

The image was created using my clever Cameo and then coloured with Copic markers this is about my 5th attempt as I kept messing up the colouring.. Glossy Accents added to the red and lots of tiny seed beads on the centre of the flower and attached to a beautiful Spellbinders frame . I die cut  the numbers several times and  layered them to give depth, crackle paint and Copics of various colours added and topped of with crackle accents. The side panels are also Spellbinders am getting slightly addicted to them and although I love my Cameo you just cant beat the embossing that you can achieve with these dies.

I do hope you will find time to play along with us at Get Creative the rest of the design team have created some beautiful cards to inspire you all . We are being sponsored this month by Enjoy Scrapping who will be offering a mystery prize, we also have two guest designers this month the lovely and talented Erina, and Aliki both of whom are not only very talented but two of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet.

Right am off to work ( when will this madness stop  ! )

Wishing you all a healthy and happy new year

Take care

Marie

Addicted to Stamps ” Make your Mark “

Let me start by saying a big thank you to you all for all your birthday and holiday wishes last week I was really touched. We visited the beautiful island of Lesvos in Greece and celebrated my 52nd birthday there, it was fabulous, swimming, walking, eating, drinking, shopping, hot springs to heal are aching bones, and practically no internet which meant I had to take a little break from visiting you all. The last night of our stay there was  a severe power cut for several hours and the whole island was in darkness,  now this is the third largest island in Greece so it felt quite eerie , it was night-time and we were out for dinner at the harbour when the power failed. It could have been a disaster but it was incredibly romantic , candles everywhere and people talking in hushed tones we could just see the twinkling lights of Turkey off in the distance and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our stay.

This is a photo I took through a whole in a wall and that little balcony that you can see is where we used to have coffee at night to watch the sunset, its tiny and just hangs out over the rocks a perfect end to a perfect day.

Right on to business …. over atAddicted to Stamps its time once again for a new challenge and we are asking you to create a card with the emphasis on using markers to colour your image. Since this will be a regular challenge and due to the fact that I’m rubbish at colouring in,  hence my lack of the aforementioned I have had to do some serious shopping and practicing. The shopping part was dead easy , I bought loads of Copics none of which matched each other so I keep returning to the scene of the crime every other day to get me some more. I think the guy who runs the shop thinks I’m either a stalker or a nutter as he has given me three colour charts so I can mark of what I have bought and of course I have lost all three of them ! I’m a bit embarrassed each time I go in and so make up for it by spending a fortune . I have to say I find this colouring in lark quite difficult and have wasted tons of paper on it but I do find it rather therapeutic . Not that my card is anything special by any means,  I have  so much to learn but am enjoying the process immensely, so come and have a peep at my little cards yes cards , got carried away and made two !

I created the background with my Cameo and then masked it with this great flower image from Hero Arts and used the Copics to colour the blooms, this was about my tenth attempt as either the shading looked wrong to me or I was so far outside the lines it looked like I had drunk about four large Gins ! ( the gin came afterwards )

Heres another one with a different background and I’ve used some stickles on the flower centres a bit of an error I think but it took ages to do so tough !

Please pop over to Addicted to Stamps and see what my fabulous and talented team mates and expert coloureres in have come up with and why not take part , you can’t be any worse than I am !

Right off to bed and lather myself up with the mozzie cream , the little buggers are vicious this year and due to lack of funds here in Greece our local council was unable to do it’s usual spraying ( most probably a good thing ) so all you can hear in my house at night is the constant slapping sound of  Teo and I trying to kill the little buggers or our  swearing, not very conducive to a good nights sleep !

Hope to catch up with you in the next few days as I  am suffering from a little post holiday depression apart from my DT duties I’m avoiding my Mac so please bear with me.

Ta ra

Addicted to Stamps colour challenge ” Blue “

If you have come here expecting to see more photos and hear more gossip about the terrible twosome and I dont mean Florence and Valerie ( although Valerie is still trying to stir it up ) then you will be sadly disappointed. I do feel the R & B saga has run its course at least for the time being so you will just have to put up with plain old boring me ! Thank you all for your well wishes for hubby and I we are both on the mend well I am at least but you know what men are like and they do like to drag it ou a little now don’t they girls. Why is it that the male species when ill with something simple and petty always insist they are at death’s door and revert to being five years old. Now it is no fluke of nature that men don’t give birth can you imagine it ! they would be intolerable. We ” the weaker ” sex however can have a baby in the morning  be home in time to cook  dinner , clean the house put the washing on do the shopping and then ask  them how their day was,and still have the energy to listen to what a hard day they had at the office/golf or whatever  it is they get up to outside of the house. I’m not saying that my Teo is faking it I just think he’s enjoying watching rubbish TV in the morning and seeing how the other half live, his knowledge of the current soaps and tv trivia is a little alarming to say the least.

Over at Addicted to Stamps we had some fantastic entries  for our Christmas in July challenge last week, thank you all so much for joining us. To be honest we could do with a bit of a cool breeze here its soooooo hot  but it’s not the heat that’s the problem its the humidity and the mossies the little buggers are quite dastardly and are immune to every kind of repellent known to man. It’s not so much them biting its the buzzing noise they make in your ear  just before they dive bomb you and  take a chunk out of your wotsits! yes my wotsits are out in all their glory. Sorry for going off at a tangent , now if I was a man I would say it was due to the malaria after being bitten so many times but as I’m just a mere woman I will put it down to having too many things whirling around in my lovely little brain.  Right before you all start yawning and getting itchy fingers let me tell you about this weeks challenge which is a colour challenge and the colour is blue. Come and have a peep at my little ( actually it’s not so little ) creation

Yes the theme is blue !!! not white but it does have blue on it doesn’t it. I cut the frame on my Cameo used this lovely new stamp by memory box ( new to me ) I coloured the flower and stems with copic markers and then added glossy accents to the buds and matted it onto Marina Mist by SU. The first ever challenge a few weeks ago at Addicted to stamps you may remember we were asked to use markers on our cards well I had about 3 mangy ones as I never use them , so after that I went out and bought a ton of the things ( thanks Kylie ) aren’t they expensive !and you can’t just buy three colours now can you ! So I have been practicing, not that you can tell by this effort and I don’t think I will be ready in the immediate or even distant future to get a Copic certificate, not that I could get one here even if I wanted. Sorry off on that tangent again ! oh Malaria is a terrible illness.

Yes that’s it , one lousy photo from me and too many words,  so if you want to see some real talent why not pop over and see the wonderful inspirational cards by my fellow teamies a lovely and funny ( and I mean that in a nice way ) group of gals if ever there was one.

On another note some of the turncoats have suggested that the mutts start a blog of their own so if anyone one is interested …hands in the bucket !!!

Right am off now for a rub down with my various mossie repellents as the little blighter’s are nipping at my bits

Ta ra !
