Hello lovely ladies and gents just popping in with a super quick post as I see one of my favourite challenge blogs Just Us Girls has a fantastic theme this week.

It’s been an absolute age since I made a tag and as I had just received a little package of goodies that seemed perfect for the challenge I thought I would give it a go.

Harvey is the name of this super royal guard by Tim Holtz and Sizzix , I absolutely love him there are so many options in the set so expect more non traditional flamboyant guards to follow. I chose traditional colours this time and added a few gold “blobs from Pinkfresh for buttons and a touch of Nuovo drops for his shiny boots. I used another new embossing folder from Tim Holtz for the sprigs and coloured it with Distress Oxide added a touch of chunky glitter embossing paste hither and thither, unfortunately, the glitter is a bit shy and decided it didn’t want to appear but I can assure you it’s there! A few gold splatters were added willy nilly hoping to add a touch of something a little more festive.

I used my Crop-o-dile to add the eyelet the poor thing has been shoved at the back of a drawer for many. a moon and was glad to see the light of day. The sentiment is courtesy of Mr Holtz.

So there you have it! A big thank you to Carol Mc from Just Us Girls for this great challenge it must be about 10 years since I last made a tag and I enjoyed it so much.BTW the tag was hand cut as I didn’t have a die and I couldn’t be bothered firing up the old Silhouette Cameo.

Do pop over to Just us Girls as the DT have some amazing tags to inspire and delight.

I’m also linking up to NBUS # 43 as Harvey is out on his first official engagement as is the embossing folder.

Take care.

Goodbye Addicted to Stamps and More and Hello Addicted to CAS !

Over at Addicted to Stamps and More its time for a new challenge and our theme this week is flowers a nice easy challenge I think you will agree. Sadly it will be my last as a DT member,  sniff , sniff , but do not fear I’m not going far ! The lovely Kylie owner of ATS&M has decided that one challenge blog is just not enough and the crazy but lovely lady has set up Addicted to CAS and has asked me to join the team !

This will be a fortnightly challenge and as its name suggests is strictly for the CAS card makers amongst  you we will also have some wonderful sponsors joining us so there will be prizes yippee !!!!

Our first challenge will go live on the 17th of November so do hope you can join us.

I’m really sad to be leaving this team as they are all such a wonderful group of talented ladies and we have all bonded so well but quite a few of them will be on the new DT so we can still keep in touch.

Right onto my card !

I embossed the frame with one of my Stampin up wheels and white embossing powder the frame had previously been coated with pink Pan Pastels. I raised it up with foam to give a little dimension and added a lovely piece of embossed card inside. The flower was made with a Sizzix bigs die and  coloured with Pan Pastels, the brad I made with my i-top brad maker.

I will be leaving in a few days time for London to look after my friend Dolly whom I’m sure some of you remember , as most of my time will be spent at hospital please forgive me if I’m late passing by. I would just like to thank Irini of Get Creative, Lin of Crafty Cardmakers and Kylie for being so understanding and allowing me to take a break from my DT obligations it’s very much appreciated.

I do hope you will come and play with us this week at Addicted to Stamps and More and it would be lovely to see you at Addicted to CAS on November 17th.

Take care

Marie

Less is More Week 87 Love and Marriage

A big warm hello to each and every one of you crafty ladies and especially to the fabulous ” Limettes ” that name does sound like a soul band from the sixties now doesn’t it !

Now joining us live on stage, Mandi and Chrissie and the sensational Limettes lol ! well sounded funny to me anyway.

Am not really getting much time to play at the moment but I do love to join in the LIM challenges when I can and when I saw the challenge title this week I did a little jig, well at least in my head as the broken foot has put an end to my jigging for the time being !

This weeks challenge over at Less is More is lucky dip Love and Marriage and it just so happened that I was working on some wedding cards at the moment yippee !!!!!

A very simple card made  with the help of my best friend Cameo and a computer generated sentiment.

I felt a bit of a cheat on this one as it was so simple and came together really quickly ( for a change ) so I made another

Once again I used my cameo to cut out this gorgeous heart , I used a sizzix embossing folder to emboss this pretty pattern  underneath the negative space and then popped it up with foam .I  cut the same heart with red card and used the positive to place inside the negative thus giving dimension , a little resin flower and all done. I’m not really a big fan of sentiments and leave most of my cards blank so that they can be interpreted in any way the giver or receiver thinks fit.

I really loved the simplicity of this card and so made a couple of variations. The one I wanted to share was a beautiful ( well I thought so anyway ) gold embossed card with an amazing antique button in the centre but it proved camera-shy and after taking about thirty photographs I gave up. Think it must be the Greta Garbo of the card world and wants to stay a recluse !

Do pop over to LIM to see the fabulous as always inspirational cards from Mandi and Chrissie and of course the amazing entries so far.

I’m off to cook lunch,  a traditional British  Sunday roast and wouldn’t you know it we have 31 degrees today  here in Greece , not really the ideal menu now is it !

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge no 71 Make Your Own Flowers

I am sitting here in the craft cave and am being bullied by the dastardly duo  Bailey and Rosy my two mutts who have decided that they have had enough of seeing only my back  for the past few,  well make that several hours ! I have a day bed in here and they are usually sprawled out on that or at my feet waiting to intercept any matter of crafty material that is destined for the bin. The little ” loves ” have been so quiet up until now due to the extreme heat but a sudden torrential downpour has cooled the air and revitalised their souls and they telling me in no uncertain terms that it is time for play. So as  I am writing this post I have an eleven kilo French Bulldog and a two kilo Pincher sitting on my knee both jousting for poll position….. oops there goes Bailey the Pincher ( did he jump or was he pushed ) he has been knocked off and is now yapping his head off, those mini mutts sure can bark . Right I better make this quick as Rosy the porker is one fidgety madame ! Its time for our new challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers and the theme for the next fortnight has been chosen by the lovely Aj who is asking us to make our own flowers. She would love to see your project including flowers made from anything you like as long as the flower itself is not store-bought . For more details pop over to Crafty Cardmakers and of course to see what my fellow talented team members have made to inspire us all. I used a Hero Arts stamp  and embossed it with its matching embossing folder by Sizzix ,not sure you can see the embossing but if you look really closely and squint just a little you might catch a little glimpse of it on the tiny flowers . The flower was made with my Cameo and I used Pan Pastels in varying shades to colour it, have mentioned that I love them ? you get such great coverage and if you make a mistake you can just rub it out with an ordinary eraser. Sentiment is by SU. I know you all wanted to see a close up of the flower so you could admire my Pan Pastelling skills !

Our two generous sponsor are:-

Digi Doodle Shop are offering a ten-dollar gift voucher and One Stop Card  Crafts are offering a 10 pounds voucher also.

We had some fantastic entries for our last fortnight’s challenge and it was a pleasure to see so many lovely and talented blogging friends taking part . I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who passes by to leave a comment I know how busy you all are and do appreciate you taking the time to visit. There are a few of you and I’m not mentioning any names but the guilty parties will know who they are , are just down right cheeky and I love it so don’t hold back !!!

Right I’m off as the howling has started up again oh sorry, my mistake it’s just hubby watching the football,  but better clear off cos I’ve got two dead legs and a sore you know what from this big lump sitting on my knee.

Hope this post finds you all as it’s scheduled as hopefully when you read this I will be at my aqua aerobics class !

Make it Monday Colour Challenge

Good Morning to you all and especially to all my friends in the UK who will be celebrating the Queens Jubilee, hope the weather keeps fine for all of those street parties ! It’s a holiday weekend here also in Greece and hope the rain stops so we can get out and about !

Make it Monday will be celebrating their first anniversary next week and to end their month-long theme of florals they have given us this beautiful colour prompt to inspire us. I really enjoyed taking part in their challenge a couple of weeks ago and when I saw this pretty photograph I knew I wanted to take part.

Here is my interpretation

I ‘m not sure quite how to classify this creation its a cross between an invitation/card/envelope. . The lacy envelope thingy was made with the help of my Cameo , easy you make think but its the result of ten attempts !!! It kept sticking to the carrier sheet and as its such delicate paper it kept ripping ! when I finally did get it of in one piece  Mr pokey tool and I had a difference of opinion. I wanted to poke out all of the holes and he preferred to leave some in ! So running out of paper and patience on my tenth attempt I finally managed to get a perfect one !! I printed onto velum this gorgeous paper from Designer Digitals and using a Stamp from the SU  set Sweetheart I stamped a little sentiment inside. Using  a bigz die by Sizzix Flowers and Daisies I cut out several flowers and then coloured them with Pan Pastels in pink. Am loving those Pastels so easy to use I only wish I had bough more of them. Made my own brad with my I-Top tool using some old fabric and placed it in the centre.

Heres a photo of the inside.

The flower has a clip at the back so it can be attached anywhere else on the card once you have opened it. The insert could be glued in place and is perfect for an invitation or can be used as a little note card.

Back View

The back could have been left plain but I got a bit carried away and decided to go the whole hog and carry the colour theme all of the way through.

Do pop over to Make it Monday to see the amazing inspirational pieces by the very talented design team who I have to say are one of the nicest bunches of ladies in blog land !

Right enough crawling from me time for work

Take care

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge 69 Distress It

Time once again for our new challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers and our theme for the next two weeks has been chosen by the lovely and talented Feebsy  who is asking us to Distress It ! She would love to see some form of distressing on your project, pop over to Crafty Cardmakers for more details.

I really enjoyed this one immensely and had lots of fun getting inky and messy , something I havent done for a long long time .

To make the base I cut out three pieces of card with my Cameo and layered them, embossed them with the Harlequin embossing folder by Sizzix , lightly rubbed them over with Pan Pastels in varying colours and set them with hair spray,  a double dose of UTEE to give a little shine and the base was done. For the next layer I used an IndigoBlu crackle stamp with clear embossing ink and the used the emboss resist technique with DI inks in varying shades until I got the look I wanted. The edges were distressed with my fab but very noisy Zutter machine and then more DI’s around the edges.

For the main image I coloured a piece of card with Pan Pastels,  over the top I stenciled in red Pan pastels a number mask that I had made with the aid of my Cameo. I used this great face stamp by Inkylicious which I embossed with black SU embossing powder. This little metal frame from Tim Holtz has been sitting waiting its turn patiently and seemed eyedeal ( pun intended ) to place over the eye. This was such great fun and I really enjoyed mixing it up a little.

I do hope you can join us over at Crafty Cardmakers there are two great prizes to be won by our very generous sponsors

Digi Doodle Shop

We are also sponsored by Hobby Art who are giving away two fabulous stamps sets and this is what they have to say.

why not pop over to Crafty Cardmakers to see the fantastic inspirational pieces by my fellow DT members and why not take part who knows you could be one of our lucky winners !

Before I go would just like to leave you with a photo of Bailey and Rosy  my doglets who have been complaining that I have not mentioned them recently in any of my blog posts ! Well the fact is that they have been behaving themselves lately and havent eaten or destroyed any of my stamps/supplies and creations.

Right am off to cook lunch and will pop by you all later to see what you have been up to.

Take care

Get Creative 20th April Card Sketch Challenge

Its time for our last challenge of the month over at Get Creative and our lovely and talented  leader Irini has given us the following sketch to work with.

Image

The design team have been very generously given a gorgeous goody bag of chipboard elements to play with and use in our creations by the fantastic sfragidomania.

Image

Here is my take on the Sketch

Image

I cut several square frames with my Cameo and stamped with a baroque stamp and inked the edges. Layered them one on top of the other to give dimension. I used a Sizzix embossing folder with shattered glass effect and ran a piece of acetate through it in the Big Shot. The chipboard chandelier was inked with Stazon in black and then three layers of clear UTEE were added. Some pearls from my stash. I also added UTEE to the sentiment wich was also generated by my Cameo. I was trying to give the impression of a fallen chandelier , it’s a bit of a standing joke in our house when something goes wrong then someone usually trots out the phrase ” it was like that when I got here ” on showing this to my husband though he didn’t get the joke so I hope some of you do ! Sorry about the rubbish photo but as most of you know acetate is a bit on the tricky side to photograph.

Do pop over to Get Creative to see what my fabulous team mates have come up with to inspire you and the see the fabulous prize that is on offer. We have once again been sponsored by the very generous Tina Suitella .

Image

I am a little behind in commenting this week as my New I Pad fell into a bucket of water ( don’t ask !!! ) and am in mourning for its loss. I usually take it to work with me to help with my commenting , lucky i am the boss ! Due to its sudden demise and until I get a replacement I hope you can all bear with me.

Right that’s me folks off to earn a penny or too

Take care

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge 66 ” Fantasy “

Yesterday in Greece we celebrated Easter and the sun came out and stayed all day ! Not only where we able to roast our lambs on the spit but we where able to roast our bodies too ! Well I did any way ! You could certainly tell who was British amongst our contingent , all of the Greeks sat in the shade with their sun glasses on and a certain British person sat in full view of the sun without protection or glasses. Needless to say I am looking a bit like a patchwork quilt today and a very unattractive one at that. After twenty-three years of living here you would think I would be a little used to it by now but no siree not me, as soon as I see the sun I come over all touristy and park myself underneath it. Now the truth be told I do work all day so I don’t get much of a chance but when I do I’m off in my car to the beach !

Over at Crafty Cardmakers our lovely and talented leader Lin has chosen ” Fantasy ” as our theme for the next two weeks. I really enjoyed getting inky and messy so much so that I made two cards and here they are for your perusal.

The image is courtesy of The Graphics Fairy , The stamp is from a children’s stamping set and of course I have no idea who made it as the box has long been discarded . Embossed with SU embossing powder. Waco ( great name ) gold crackle paint was used for the base and then coloured with Marina Mist ink by SU. After I had distressed the edges of the card with my fab but very noisy Zutter distressing tool ( they really should give free ear plugs with it I  ) went a bit mad with the Encore Ultimate metallic Gold ink but it was great fun.

Again the image is courtesy of  The Graphics Fairy edged in gold ink as above and positioned onto …. well am not exactly sure what it is, paper like material that I got from my local craft shop., again went a bit mad with the gold. The wings were made with my Cameo, coloured with Marina Mist from SU and then embossed with three layers of clear UTEE, bobbly trim from my stash and blue foam for the border cut with one of my Sizzix bigs dies .

Our two fab sponsors are, firstly
$15 Gift Certificate to the Crop Stop Store
and our second sponsor is
$10 Gift Voucher
Do pop over to Crafty Cardmakers to see the fabulous creations made by my team mates to inspire us all and who knows you could be one of our lucky winners.
Right am off for a little lie down, am still recovering from working all day  every day in my shop with the run up to Easter , nothing to do with the excesses of yesterday you understand.
Take care
