Crafty Cardmakers Challenge 69 Distress It

Time once again for our new challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers and our theme for the next two weeks has been chosen by the lovely and talented Feebsy  who is asking us to Distress It ! She would love to see some form of distressing on your project, pop over to Crafty Cardmakers for more details.

I really enjoyed this one immensely and had lots of fun getting inky and messy , something I havent done for a long long time .

To make the base I cut out three pieces of card with my Cameo and layered them, embossed them with the Harlequin embossing folder by Sizzix , lightly rubbed them over with Pan Pastels in varying colours and set them with hair spray,  a double dose of UTEE to give a little shine and the base was done. For the next layer I used an IndigoBlu crackle stamp with clear embossing ink and the used the emboss resist technique with DI inks in varying shades until I got the look I wanted. The edges were distressed with my fab but very noisy Zutter machine and then more DI’s around the edges.

For the main image I coloured a piece of card with Pan Pastels,  over the top I stenciled in red Pan pastels a number mask that I had made with the aid of my Cameo. I used this great face stamp by Inkylicious which I embossed with black SU embossing powder. This little metal frame from Tim Holtz has been sitting waiting its turn patiently and seemed eyedeal ( pun intended ) to place over the eye. This was such great fun and I really enjoyed mixing it up a little.

I do hope you can join us over at Crafty Cardmakers there are two great prizes to be won by our very generous sponsors

The Craft – Room Challenge ” Add Fabric “

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening to you all ! Firstly some fantastic news ! I found my glasses , well one pair at least and guess where !! in the fridge of course , the most logical place wouldn’t you agree , goodness knows where the second pair is, I dread to think ! The second piece of news is that I got top three at Make My Monday sooooo excited about that.  Am trying to take part in a few challenges lately to get the old mojo back in gear and I noticed that The Craft-Room is having a super challenge hosted by the lovely and talented Maria who is asking us to add fabric to our project . Now Maria loves to make hangings and beautiful ones at that  she always has some fabric somewhere on her gorgeous creations so it came as no surprise when she chose this theme.

Well I do hope that this card of mine fits the bill as its taken 18 hours of sewing to make it  and bloggers blindness is back in full !! When I was in The UK I bought a long stitch kit,  goodness knows what came over me as my two sons and husband will testify I can’t even sew a button on properly ! My boys learnt to sew from an early age  ( and iron ) as they are both pet hates of mine,  thank goodness hubby is an excellent sewer and ironer ( among other things ) Sew when I showed the boys the kit they thought it was a present for them !!!! Anyways when I saw the challenge at the Craft-Room I was determined to finish the piece and I just about made it , so if it doesn’t qualify I think Im going to burn it ! so here it is my first ever attempt … please be gentle with me.

I kept the card very simple as I wanted the sewing to be the star attraction, I cut a frame with my Cameo and the oval border which was coloured with Pan Pastels ( love these ) Stamped a butterfly with blue Stazon onto some leather and die cut with a co-ordinating die from Hero arts. Sizzix embossing folder at the bottom and a few green pearls and there you have it !

Do pop over to The Craft -Room to see the fabulous inspirational pieces by the DT they also have a great Sponsor this month Indigo Blu so definitely worth  entering I love their stuff and bought a ton in Aintree !

Right off to work now and who knows maybe I will discovering glasses number two maybe in the oven !!!

Take care

Get Creative Card Challenge May 20th

Good Morning Bloggers !!!! As it’s the 20th of the month its time for our card challenge over at Get Creative and we where given a wonderful sketch to work with. Now I hope you can all bear with me on this one and ignore any grammatical and spelling mistakes in this post as I seem to have mis- placed my glasses ! We had a little party here last night until the small hours and on arising  rather late I may add it seems they have disappeared !! Even the spare pair have legged it !!! So am definitely suffering from bloggers blindness and coupled with well shall we say with  a little over indulgment it all adds up to a bit of a pigs ear in the blogging department. Dont you just hate spell check !!! too many choices and none of them I can see properly so sorry !.

I used some of my new stash from Aintree finally !!  I emossed the background with a lovely new folder from Sizzix ( sorry box in the bin !! ) The stamp is from the vintage oval labels set by Just Rite and used the coordinating Spellbinders die to cut the aperture. A second Just Rite stamp for the sentiment  also with a Spellbinders  label die. I used SU Rich Razzlebury and Marina Mist inks. For the flowers  ( well they where flowers to begin with ) I cut up some Sfragidomania chipboard inked it in Rich Razzlebury and the double embossed it with UTEE. Added some over -sized pearls to the centre and some ribbon from my stash.

Here is the gorgeous sketch we had been given to inspire us and hopefully you !

Do pop over to Get Creative to see the beautiful and inspiring inspirational  pieces from the rest of our Design Team and who knows you may be one of our lucky winners. There’s  a fabulous prize for our lucky winner from the very generous Celine Navarro of Green Frog Studio check out our blog for all of the details.

Right am off out for a spot of lunch , well as soon as I’ve found my glasses and done the washing up !!!

Make My Monday ” Any Flower With Music “

What two posts in two days havent done that in a while ! There I was whingeing as usual and saying my muse had ” done a bunk ” and she upped and appeared !!! Cleaning out the craft cave certainly helped ! So I thought I would share the card I made for Make My Monday lots of lovely blogging friends on the DT here. They are asking us to create a card with any flower and music the flower being the main focus, just as well as you can hardly see the music on mine !

I  made a heart out of air dry Fimo and stamped with this Penny Black stamp while still moist, when dry I coloured the heart with one of my Letraset markers. The aperture was cut with spellbinders frames and backed with some lovely old music paper. The little gem is made using one of my silicone moulds. I stamped a border of music notes inside the card and forgot to take a photo duh !!!!

A close up to show the dimension of the card and my terrible colouring in !

Why not pop over to Make My Monday to see the fabulous inspirational work by the lovely and talented design team.

Right off to work will be by to see you all later

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge 68 ” Birthday Balloon Bonanza “

How time flies !!!  its time for our fortnightly challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers. The lovely  Mynnette is our host  ( happy birthday for yesterday )and she is asking us to create a card incorporating balloons of any description!! such a fun theme I’m sure you will agree. Pop over to Crafty Cardmakers for all of the details.

This is the simple card I made for my DT piece. I used my Cameo to create the background paper and the 3D balloons the sentiment is from Heard from the Heart by SU and stamped with Marina Mist ( thanks Vicky )

I enjoyed the theme so much I made a second card , another simple one again using my Cameo to create the robot and the balloon cut outs, added some glossy accent to the balloon and using the smile stamp I bought for a pound at Aintree inked it up with SU Pumpkin Pie.

Hello all from a gloriously sunny Thessaloniki  and about time too !! It’s the 5th of the month and time for a new card challenge over at Get Creative where our lovely leader Irini is asking us to create a card using a wreath . Instead of following the bosses orders and what a lovely, talented and creative person she is  ( do you think that’s enough crawling ! ) I decided to make a wreath without a card ! and here it is ….. I took a simple wreath made from polystyrene and wrapped it with various pieces of ribbon and fabric. I used heart pins to secure it and then used a gorgeous chipboard wreath which was kindly denoted to the Get Creative DT by Sfragidiomania covered it with pink Stazon and then double embossed it with UTEE . I made a rolled flower with some lovely striped DP don’t remember who’s,  what a surprise  ! Secured it to the wreath with another pin and there you have it. Do pop over to Get Creative to see the Design Teams amazing cards I was totally blown away when I saw them and also see the fabulous prize by our very generous sponosor Celine Navarro  fromThe Green Frog Studio   I  would like to say a big thank you to all of you who have followed me over to WordPress it means so much to me, I had over 220 followers on blogger and lost them all when I moved over here so it’s lovely to see so many friendly faces . The last eight months has been a real roller coaster ride for me and I’m eternally grateful that you have been here for me. Before I forget,  for the cheekier amongst you , no,  that was definitely not a picture of hubby on my last post,  hubby has a beard !!!   Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.   Marie

Out of a Hat Creations ” A girl can never have too many shoes ” and Modge Podge Mania !!!

Hello my lovlies did you miss me !!! What you didn’t notice my absence !!! Well never mind am back now ! Have been away for a while visiting my family in Liverpool and as luck would have it it just happened to coincide with a crafting exhibition in Aintree so was able to combine the two thank you very much ! Another happy coincidence was I was able to meet the lovely and very funny and lets not forget talented Maria Green of Made by Maz who has become a great blogging friend over the past months. It was so lovely to finally meet up and we found to our amazement that we both went to the same high school and lived within close proximity to each other, Maria is four years younger than me so our paths never crossed and of course I know live in Greece  it was such fun to reminisce about our old school and talk about the teachers that we shared. Of course being a fellow Scouser we had a lot in common and I felt like I had known her all my life. Cant wait to meet up again next year.

I havent been able to take part in a challenge for a while and as soon as I returned on Tuesday hubby disappeared on a little trip of his own so now am back to working all day . I did notice that the lovely ladies at Out of a Hat Creations have a fab theme this week and I had just the thing , well at least  I hope it is . They are asking us to create a project using shoes, please visit their blog for all the deets and of course check out their fabulous and inspirational creations.

Like most women I love shoes , and handbags and clothes oh and jewellery and ….well you get the idea . I have this lovely pair of yellow leather shoes which unfortunately have been put out to pasture but I just couldn’t bring myself to throw them away, little did  I know that they would become part of a crafting project  and not only that but I am going to wear them too ! I’m going through a bit of a modge podge phase so I decided to try it on the shoes they’re a little funky don’t you think !

Not really much to explain here just a couple of paper napkins and some Modge Podge but I love the mad result !!! Hope ladies this is acceptable but please feel free to delete it if not.

A couple of posts ago I mentioned that I had Modge Podged a radiator at home but it was in my sons tiny bathroom and couldn’t get a good shot well I recently did another makeover on one of the radiators in my living room and although the photos do not do it justice I thought I would share it with you so here it is.

This took quite a while to do and was quite fiddly I love the effect even if I nearly lost the use of my legs from crouching for hours on end ! Now am sure quite a few of you will consider it maybe just a tad outrageous but believe you me if fits perfectly ( well I think so ) with the look of my home. A few years ago I decided to strip back all of the doors in my living room  single handedly ,  there are eleven of them all quite large and with quite intricate wooden frames. This took me three whole months a very time consuming and painful process as I ended up requiring surgery on my shoulder upon its completion. The overall effect is a quite distressed look as I left some of the paint on the doors. Here is a photo of one of the double doors that I did so you can get a feel as to how the radiator might fit in.

Didn’t quite mean for this to be such a long post so for those of you than hung on in there ….many thanks.

Right am off now to catch up as best I can with you all cant wait to see what you have been up too

Take care

Marie
