Craft-Room Challenge Handmade Embellishments Make Your Own

Happy Valentines Day !

For those of you that celebrate I wish you all a super romantic evening with your loved ones and for those of us that don’t I wish you a super romantic evening with your loved ones !!!!

Just thought I would pop in with a quick post as I see my lovely friend Maria of Made by Maz is hosting this fortnight’s challenge at the Craft-Room , she is asking us to make our own embellishments and this is what she has to say :-

I do love to see handmade embellishments adorning your creations, so I thought it would be an ideal theme for this fortnight. You can make whatever you like, from whatever you like, as long as it is decorated with some embellishments which you’ve made yourself

Sorry about the backgrounds but I wasn’t able to crop them out , so please excuse hubby’s clothing in the background . Mr and Mrs P can be seen here modeling the heart I made. I cut a piece of heavy card stock with this scalloped heart by spellbinders and then two pieces of red felt which I sewed together and filled with…..cant remember the technical word so I will just call it “fluff” and closed it up. The white heart on top was a little more complicated, I made my own resin mold from a pretty heart I bought from Hong Kong and then filled it with Fimo. After a few minutes I popped it out and left it to air dry overnight. I made a hole in the paper and added an eyelet and threaded some red ribbon. The Fimo heart was then glued to the felt and the felt to the card and a couple of stick pins added for good measure.

I really enjoyed making this and it looks quite pretty in real life even though my sewing is a little naff so don’t look to closely !

Its been an absolute age since I took part in one of the  Craft-Room Challenges and do hope my heart fits the bill, why not pop over and see what the DT have come up with to inspire us all there are some fantastic and inspirational pieces .

Right that’s all for me am off to Pilates

Take care

Marie

I coloured my base card with Pan Pastels and roughed up the edges with my very noisy Zutter distresser, all of the animals run for cover as soon as I start using it ! Sounds like something from a Hitchcock film ! The grey Co-ordinations card-stock was embossed and treated to a good going over with my sanding block . The beautiful frame courtesy  of Miss Cameo a few pearls added and the lovely butterfly is Hero Arts from the butterfly stamp and die cut set, coloured with Copics and the Glossy Accents.

The pretty Cameo I made myself by making a mold and filling it with iclay which is similar to Fimo but a lot softer and squishier and great fun to play with.

Do hope you will have time to join for our last challenge of the year at Get Creative the design team have come up with some fabulous cards .The winner of this challenge will be invited back as guest designer in January.

Sorry this is a short post but I  am running around like a crazy woman as am sure the rest of you are ! Our shop is open from ten till nine at night and we’re  working Saturdays and Sundays so not much free time until January so……….

I wish you all a healthy and happy Christmas a fabulous new year hopefully spent with your loved ones and families and look forward to catching up with you all over the holidays

Take care

Less is More ” Gold ” and Its a Dogs Life !

I feel it’s time to draw a veil over the sad events of the past few weeks concerning Rosy and Bailey I was totally devastated after the lovely ( former lovely ) Lynne of Adorn jumped on the bandwagon and sided with Florence, Vicky and Valerie. Up until now I had held these  Fabulous artists in high esteem and of course artistically I still do but I feel they have betrayed our blogging friendship and have come down totally on the side of the mutts. For anyone who is not quite sure what this is all about please feel free to read my previous posts . Florence even had the nerve to leave messages for Bailey and Rosy on my blog for all of the world to see ! how could you Florence ! Anyway as I said I’m drawing a veil over the whole proceedings that and the fact that the mutts have taken pity on hubby and I due to us both being ill and have decided that home is where the hearth is ( we don’t have a hearth but you know what I mean ) there was a mention of learning another language and Rosy being a French Bulldog decided Greek and English were already difficult enough to master !

It has been many a moon since I took part in a Less is More challenge but I do pop by every week to take a peep at all of the wonderful entries. Mandi and Chrissie do set such marvelous challenges and am always totally blown away by their inspirational pieces and those of the entrants. Yesterday was my first day back in my craft cave after a week of working all day and taking care of hubby, who now is on the road to recovery, thank you all for asking. Gold is the theme this week over at LIM a tricky colour to pull off but I see you have all managed quite superbly. I made a couple of cards and here they are……

I used my Cameo to cut out the feather, firstly onto heavy white card and used the negative space for the base. I then cut another couple of feathers with Gold mirror card . I popped up the card base with some foam and then placed the gold feather into the aperture , the sentiment am not quite sure who’s it is , I really must label things ! I had a couple of feathers and wasn’t sure if the card looked a little bare so I added a second one… what do you think one or two !

Right my next card am not really sure if I like it but I will let you all be the judge it was a bugger to photograph due to the reflection of the mirror card , well it is mirror card after all !

I made the heart from Fimo air drying clay using one of the silicone molds I made a while ago. When it was dry I rubbed over some gorgeous orange smelling antique gold paste by Pen Art it really does smell like oranges and I was really tempted to lick my fingers afterwards ! I used these fab frames from spellbinders to cut the apertures and then matted them up on foam squares to give dimension ,  a fab little resin flower in the corner and all done !

Please pop over to LIM to see the amazing creations and inspirational cards by Mandi and Chrissie and the rest of the LIM fan club. For all the tennis fans in the UK I bet there wont be much crafting done this afternoon as Andy Murray is playing in the Final at Wimbledon. Having missed all of the matches as Greek TV doesn’t show it I have spent all morning fiddling with my Mac and have finally worked out how to view it on line well at least I hope so !

No you’re not getting off that easily  ! I just wanted to share some photos of Rosy and Bailey, these are for the traitors, Lynne, Florence  Valerie and Vicky,  feast your eyes cos you wont be seeing anymore for a long time !!

Rosy feigning sadness !

Bailey, Rosy and hubbies foot all trying to feign sadness !

Rosy posing for the camera

Rosy not feigning sadness !! she was sitting next to hubby begging for cake and didn’t get any !

Right I’m off,  sorry for the photo heavy post ( I’m not really ) have to tidy up the craft cave before Wimbledon as we will be watching it on my Mac and I think hubby might have a relapse if he sees the mess in here.

Ta ra

Make My Monday ” Any Flower With Music “

What two posts in two days havent done that in a while ! There I was whingeing as usual and saying my muse had ” done a bunk ” and she upped and appeared !!! Cleaning out the craft cave certainly helped ! So I thought I would share the card I made for Make My Monday lots of lovely blogging friends on the DT here. They are asking us to create a card with any flower and music the flower being the main focus, just as well as you can hardly see the music on mine !

I  made a heart out of air dry Fimo and stamped with this Penny Black stamp while still moist, when dry I coloured the heart with one of my Letraset markers. The aperture was cut with spellbinders frames and backed with some lovely old music paper. The little gem is made using one of my silicone moulds. I stamped a border of music notes inside the card and forgot to take a photo duh !!!!

A close up to show the dimension of the card and my terrible colouring in !

Why not pop over to Make My Monday to see the fabulous inspirational work by the lovely and talented design team.

Right off to work will be by to see you all later
