Addicted to CAS Challenge 8 Code Word ” Wings “

Hello lovely ladies  would just like to thank you all for your well wishes and your patience, unfortunately I am still suffering from ” the deafness ” and ear pain and my spine is still giving me jip !!! I’m so fed up of being miserable and grumpy I do suspect  that could have a lot to do with not being allowed to partake of the gin !!! Do forgive me for not getting round to you all but there are some of you out there that post everyday and although I love your blogs I’m struggling to comment on everything that you do !

Over at Addicted to CAS we had a fabulous response to our Masculine challenge and I know Sue has had her work cut out it choosing her winners, so many amazing entries,  you really do make it difficult for us and WE LOVE IT !!!

This week my old ( very old ) blogging friend Florence of Florence and Freddie fame is our hostess for the next fortnight. I had the great pleasure of  ” virtually ” meeting Flo when I first started blogging a couple of years ago and since then she has been the bain of my life ( no not the Suze Bain from Cant Stop Crafting ( inside blogger joke here sorry ) She has ridiculed me and my hobbies ( drinking ) on many an occasion and has even tried to steal my pets Bailey and Rosy !! but despite it all I forgive her as she is one talented and very funny lady and has really made a difference in my blogging life over the past few years , so thanks Florence and you can rest assured this is the last time I will ever be nice to you !!!

Here is what the lovely Florence has chosen as our code word for the next fortnight

ATCAS - code word wings

Tons of scope here, could be cars, birds, butterflies birds or angels, anything with wings so come and see what this miserable so and so came up with

Sorry about the photo’s the weather here is rubbish and this is the best I could do !
Now this looks like a real simple card ….well it is CAS after all but it was a little time-consuming to  say the least.

I made the frame and cameo myself by first of all making molds of both of them . I bought the original items from Hong Kong only to find both of them in a craft shop here in Thessaloniki !!!! Once the molds where dry I got out my Ranger melting  pot and added white UTEE and a little blue  To Dye For ink by Suze Weinberg, once melted I filled the mold and within a few minutes in had cooled and I just popped it out, it’s not by any means perfect  and this is about my fifth attempt but the great thing about the melting pot is that if you’re not happy with the result you can just fling it back in the pot and melt it again, I can tell you a lot of flinging went on. Right onto the angel cameo, I used a new to me product called i clay which is similar to air dry fimo only it has much more elasticity . I once again filled the mold with this fun stuff and popped it out and left it to dry overnight.

The little cameo is perched upon this lovely die cut by Spellbinders Decorative Labels Eight. Sentiment courtesy of Inspired by Stamping and Stamped with SU Marina Mist ink.

I see that our sister blog at Addicted to Stamps and More is also looking for a CAS card this week, anything so long as its CAS so will be joining in there too

We do hope you can play along with us at ATCAS and do please pop over to see the fabulous inspirational pieces by the rest of the DT .

Right am off back to bed I’m positively exhausted .

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend

Take care

  1. Beautiful card, love the angelic cameo. Sorry you are still feeling bad, but glad you are only knocking Florenze and Suze today….Take care, best wishes to your pooches! Valerie

  2. Absolutely gorgeous Marie – you have reminded me that I haven’t used my molds in an age so perhaps time to get them dusted off. Just love your little fairies/cherubs – they look so sweet and innocent (unlike their creator!!! lol). I really, really hope you are feeling better soon.

    Karen x

  3. Another captivating card – love every bit of it. I have never tried molds or uttee – so much to explore, so little time. It fascinates me so much, however, somehow I always end up back at my easel. I’m so sorry you are still under the weather and without gin. That alone is enough to make you sick, cranky and downright miserable. Wishing you a speedy recovery – sending healing energy. xoDonna

  4. Such a FAB-U-LOUS CAS design, Marie. I love that you created your own cameo…it looks beautiful!
I have some floral moulds, but I used Fimo and the results were not good. I have used cold porcelain in the past, but you then need to paint them. Your UTEE technique has created such a lovely finished result. Gorgeous card! x

  5. You do the most amazing things with UTEE Marie and this is another gorgeous outcome – I love it! I’m so sorry you’re still feeling rubbish (although glad that you’re obviously so exhausted you didn’t add to the list of those you’re maligning this week!) Sending inky hugs, Vicky x

  6. Another WOW card Marie, just beautiful, how clever to make moulds to suit. Love the pale colours too, a beautiful gift too.

Can’t believe you make such gorgeous things when your poorly baaarrd. Hope this illness, you have, will get out of your system FAST.

  7. Hi Marie. I love visiting your blog … not only do you make the most amazing cards, but I enjoy your humorous outlook on life. You always make me laugh!

Love your card from today. Those molds are so beautiful and you did an amazing job. So perfect with the soft white and blue.

Take care and hope that you make a full recovery soon!! Loll xx

  8. I’m so sorry that you are still suffering, Marie. Dang. I will try doubling up on my vodka…I’ll even switch to gin, whatever I can do to help you recover quickly!!

Your card – I’m swooning and it’s too early to be from my hobby! What a tremendous work of love you have created!!

Don’t worry about the commenting. Those of us who like to blather on and post every day do make a lot of work for our readers, lol! I understand that the commenting can start to feel like a job. I don’t want that!! Take it easy, and take care! Mwah! Darnell

  9. Wow, Marie, this is amazing! Those die cuts looking stunning as is the little cameo. Well you learn something new every day – I didn’t know our Florence has a secret identity as an international pet thief!

  10. Poor Florence will need to lie down in a darken room to overcome this outpouring of “niceness” from you lol.
WOW – this is the most amazing card! For the longest time I have intended making moulds but for some unknown reason I have not got around to doing so as yet.
A stunning, stunning creation all the moreso for the love you put into its creation.

  12. Awww Marie! I had a tear in my eye when I read your post. You are so kind. I know it wont last though!!! lol! This card is incredible. I can not believe you made all of this. TFS the info on the clay and how dids. Thank you also for your support over the last couple of years. I would have given up blogging 18 months ago if wasn’t for you. Thats as nice as I am going to be. Back to taking the proverbial next week! he he! Hope you feel better soon. Keep taking the gin.
    Hugs, Florence xx

I do wish you feel better soon, it’s been some time now and you should be fed up with the whole situation… Sending you hugs and kisses… and hope to see you again soon! (in a couple of months maybe 😉 )

  15. The little cameo is just gorgeous…. I think its amazing the patience you have to make the mould and the embellishment yourself!! Beautiful CAS card.
Sorry to hear you are still not firing on all cylinders…. back pain is the worst to get you down :0( Sending well wishes to you Marie xx

  18. Hi Marie, I’m so very sorry about my lack of presence lately, however I really did think I’d commented on this post. After looking through the comments though, I realised I haven’t (I must’ve been talking to myself, lol). This is an absolute stunner, and the pale blue is so beautiful with the white! This frame looks a little familiar, I’m sure I have just ordered one of these (yes, from Hong Kong as well)! I have read your newer posts on email, so I’m really glad your feeling a little better now:-).

    Take care Marie

    Maria xxxxx
