Yesterday in Greece we celebrated Easter and the sun came out and stayed all day ! Not only where we able to roast our lambs on the spit but we where able to roast our bodies too ! Well I did any way ! You could certainly tell who was British amongst our contingent , all of the Greeks sat in the shade with their sun glasses on and a certain British person sat in full view of the sun without protection or glasses. Needless to say I am looking a bit like a patchwork quilt today and a very unattractive one at that. After twenty-three years of living here you would think I would be a little used to it by now but no siree not me, as soon as I see the sun I come over all touristy and park myself underneath it. Now the truth be told I do work all day so I don’t get much of a chance but when I do I’m off in my car to the beach !
Over at Crafty Cardmakers our lovely and talented leader Lin has chosen ” Fantasy ” as our theme for the next two weeks. I really enjoyed getting inky and messy so much so that I made two cards and here they are for your perusal.
The image is courtesy of The Graphics Fairy , The stamp is from a children’s stamping set and of course I have no idea who made it as the box has long been discarded . Embossed with SU embossing powder. Waco ( great name ) gold crackle paint was used for the base and then coloured with Marina Mist ink by SU. After I had distressed the edges of the card with my fab but very noisy Zutter distressing tool ( they really should give free ear plugs with it I ) went a bit mad with the Encore Ultimate metallic Gold ink but it was great fun.
Again the image is courtesy of The Graphics Fairy edged in gold ink as above and positioned onto …. well am not exactly sure what it is, paper like material that I got from my local craft shop., again went a bit mad with the gold. The wings were made with my Cameo, coloured with Marina Mist from SU and then embossed with three layers of clear UTEE, bobbly trim from my stash and blue foam for the border cut with one of my Sizzix bigs dies .
Gorgeous Marie. The gold in the first one reflects the sunshine and the second one is just stunning. Beautiful image and embellishments. Hope you’ve got some aloe vera in the cupboard! xx
Fabulous pieces Marie, I love the gold and blue on the second one.
Hope the patchwork tan evens itself out real soon lol.
Have a great week.
hugs {brenda} xox
Hi Marie. Stunning creations. Especially love the design of the second one. The colours are gorgeous. I bet you are glowing nicely today! 🙂 Have a lovely day.
Regards Florence xx
Hi Marie!
Last week I thought of you and visited your blog and saw that you already have a new one – so I´ll follow you here.. It´s so good to see your projects again! Oh, how much I love to put myself directly under the sun, too 😉 I love to roast. I know, this is not healthy , but I use sunprotection with a high factor… I´ve a full-time job, too and sunny days are not so very often here in Austria – so I do enjoy summertime in the sun!
Have a nice day! (It´s cold and rainy here…)
Χρόνια πολλά,Χριστός Ανέστη!!!!
Είσαι μεγάλο ταλέντο!!!!!!!!
Hi Marie
Sorry I’ve not been around much these past days but here I am to say that the images are gorgeous but it is what you created that makes them special. Love them equally.
Wishes
Lynne
Both are gorgeous, but the first one has stolen my heart! I sympathise with your pink skin, no difference here! We are BRITISH!!!Hugs, Valerie
Hi Marie,
Both your creations are fabulous, as always! I have that beautiful fairy image, (first card), somewhere in my stash. I love what you did with yours… and your second card is so lush with the beautiful shades of teal…LOVE those wings!!
I don’t blame you for soaking up those rays…that would be me. The sun does our soul good, and makes us feel so much better. Well that’s my philosophy – LOL! My dear dad was a sun worshipper all his life, and he had hardly any wrinkles and always looked amazing!!
so much work goes into each of your pieces. your card is so pretty esp. with the embossed gold. i looooooooooooove the second: absolutely amazing! wonderful colors and details. so happy you had a nice Easter 🙂
Loving both your cards Marie and I adore all the little details which make them special. Annette x
Hi Marie, I love the first card, but adore the second, sorry 😦 I love the wings the border and everything about it, I may even try that embossing malarkie on something I do, a GREAT idea.
Glad your weekend went well and hope you didn’t get tooooooo sore. Oh! for a bit of heat, it’s freezing here, I MEAN freezing!!
This is gorgeous! I love how you’ve combined those images!
Your cards are astonishing Marie – they are always unique and more like stand-alone pieces of art than cards. I love the first one with the contrast between the magic people and the way the wings rise out of the second is fantastic. Glad to hear you had a good Easter. I swear the craving for sunshine is bred into a British person’s bones! Vicky x
Hello, fabulous friend! Your cards are STUNNING–but I’d never expect less from you! 😉 LOVE the soft colors on the first with the splash of gold, and the wings on the second creation coming off the top are amazing! 🙂
Wonderful cards Marie, the first one is stunning and I love the beautiful images on both of them.

Thanks for your comments on my blog…most appreciated.
Like both cards but the 2nd one stands out to me, I think its because pieces overhang the card…it gives the piece movement – well, to me it does!
Fabulous cards Marie – love them both. Thank you so much for leaving lovely comments on my blog today.
Enjoy the sunshine, you lucky girl!

OK I am going to cry!!!!!!!!!!
your tag is stunning…you know i have thing about wings (yes just add it to the lost list of other obsessions!!!)

irini
Oh my word!!! How wonderful are these?! I agree with Irini; you really must start doing some tutorials Marie. I read and re-read your explanation of how you’ve made things, but I may as well be trying to read Greek, lol! I don’t now what half the products are. I have an even better idea; you could start workshops and we could come over to you to learn how to do these fabulous things and then roast in the sun with you!! Heaven!!
xx
wow! Both of these creations are just gorgeous! Love both of them!
Lovely creations Marie. I hope that your patchworked look has calmed down a little now. Thanks for all your lovely comments.
hugs Kimx
Oh my! These are incredible! The crackle and subtle image… love it all, this is so far out of my comfort zone I can only sit and admire!
