Get Creative August 5th Card Sketch

Good morning ladies and gents hope you are all fighting fit and enjoying your Sunday where ever you are. Another short post from me as the internet here is still rubbish and have been trying for the last hour to post this . The ” lecky “man is due to pull the plug on us here in the city within the next hour ( at least we get a warning ) so will try to make this quick , you lucky things !

Over at Get Creative its time for our card sketch challenge which has been created for us by our lovely and talented leader Irini and here it is

Here is my take on the sketch

I took a little liberty with the sketch and instead of adding a sentiment I stuck this cheeky little owl in the centre. I made him with one of my Sizzix embossing folders and cut around him, added the googly eyes and painted his little beak. The wood grain stamp is SU coloured with Espresso ink by Adirondack and matted onto green cardstock, I used my Spellbinders square dies for the centre ( just kidding wanted to see if you are paying attention ) popped up with foam dots for dimension and attached some tiny weeny dry leaves,  all done and dusted.

I do hope you will take time out from your busy schedules to join us at Get Creative this month and as we are still in holiday mode we will be having only one layout and one card challenge , why not pop over to see the wonderful and inspiring creations by my fellow DT members and for you scrappers have a peep at our current sketch challenge,  our sketch DT once again have produced more stunning layouts. You have until the 30th of August to upload to Get Creative and you could be one of our lucky winners. We have been sponsored by Get Creative Embellishments who will be offering our two challenge winners something amazing from their Etsy shop.

Now wasn’t that quick and painless ! nothing to do with the fact that i’m off for lunch by the sea with a girlfriend !

Get Creative July 5th Card Sketch Challenge

I am a little miffed in fact I am a lot miffed !! and why you may well ask, well if the truth be-known certain so-called blogging friends have shown their true colours,  Florence and Valerie  being just two of the turn coats. It seems their allegiance lies with Rosy and Bailey my two little mutts and not only have they taken theirs sides but have been corresponding behind my back ,  Florence has even invited them to move in with her and Freddie in Malaga !!!!! you can image my surprise,  apparently seats have been booked on doggyjet and the little so and so’s are quite happy to go. There is one little hitch Florence as they are both under age they need an adult to travel with them so if you are prepared to come and get them then you can have them,  little traitors the lot of you !!!

On another note I would like to thank the lovelier and more honest blogging friends amongst you for all of your well wishes for our holidays unfortunately they were not meant to be. After arriving at our summer-house and spending the whole day cleaning it from top to bottom we had to return home as hubby was suffering badly with his back , let me just say I did the cleaning so it was not as a result of that ! He was unable to work in our shop so we packed everything up and returned back to base. Upon our arrival I also started having problems with my shoulder ( have  little problem with my spine and it flares up when I do too much housework ) its true it’s not an excuse. Needless to say we are both drugged up like two zombies but because I have use of my legs I drew the short straw , not only have I had  my holiday cancelled but  I’m working all day long everyday , looking after an invalid and two traitorous dogs !!!!.

Anyway……. over at Get Creative its time for another card sketch challenge and our lovely leader Irini has generously given the DT a little break,  so for July and August we will be having only one card and one sketch challenge.

This was the gorgeous sketch we were given to work with

I made this shaker card and I can honestly say I wont be making another one in the near future ! Why is it that the simplest of cards always seem to defeat me ! The treat cup  from SU that holds those pesky teeny-weeny seed beads was a real so and so to attach mainly because I was a meany and didn’t buy the matching circle punch . I thought one of  my Spellbinders circle dies would surely be the same size but nope no siree , trying to align the treat cup with a larger hole was very annoying indeed. As for the beads….. I think most of them ended up in the dogs as they kept escaping and spilling out all over the place  ( the beads not the dogs ) I stamped the love image using a  Waltzingmouse stamp which fitted perfectly in the aperture,  cut out a circle of orange felt with my Spellbinders and attached the sunrays which I cut with my Cameo, a couple of stick pins and there you have it. I also flipped the sketch cos the rest of the DT had made such wonderful cards so I thought no one would notice how mediocre mine was if it was upside-down !

Over at Get Creative we have a new and extremely talented member of the card Dt Puccarina, apart from being an outstanding artist she also writes the most amazing blog posts and is a regular contributor to our challenges. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome her to the team and look forward to working with her.

Our sponsor for the card challenge is also a member of the Dt , Channa who has a fabulous e shop  Crafts and Pieces with lots of gorgeous goodies , I know cos I bought some lovely resin flowers from her recently,  just look at what our lucky winner will receive

Please do pop over to Get Creative to see the fabulous inspirational cards by the other DT members and who knows you could be our lucky winner. Right before I go after this marathon whingeing post let me just leave you with this photo of Rosy who after being told that her plans had been foiled and she was not going to live with Florence in Malaga decided she would try to smuggle herself into one of my travel bags but Bailey being only two kilos could not lift or drag her to the airport !!!!

Right off to work

Get Creative Sketch Challenge 20th June

Two posts in one day well that’s a first for me !!! two posts in one week is rare enough ! Anyone visiting for the Addicted to Stamps blog launch please see my previous post. Due to circumstances beyond my control this couldn’t be avoided so if your email dinged a second time and you saw my name well not it’s not a mistake.

As it’s the 20th of the month its time for our card sketch challenge over at Get Creative and we were given this fun one to work with come and see

It’s to be used purely as inspiration, flip it rotate it, use it as you will as long as we can recognise the sketch bearing that in mind come and see me interpretation !

Lately I’ve been trying my hand at art journalling and having loads of fun getting inky and messy , although the feedback I got from hubby was just a raised eyebrow and no comment whatsoever , I think I heard something along the line of dogs dinner being muttered under his breath but I can’t be too sure. Having said that my two mutts are very well fed so I’m taking it as a compliment !! Anyway back to the art journalling as I said I have been having great fun with Dylusions inks masks and what not ,so I got  the idea to cut up a piece of  one of my masks and use it as the central piece of my card. The poor thing has been sprayed, gessoed, Pan Pasteled all over and with in an inch of its life ! I used my Cameo to make the mask and the scissors I used Pan Pastels to colour them and then added a couple of layers of Utee, what you’ve never seen pink scissors before …… I also covered my white card stock in pink Pan Pastels as it gives such a pretty tint to the paper. It seems that these pastels are all the rage or all the go if you come from Liverpool  ! I’m really loving using them and finding them better than ink and a little goes a long way which can’t be bad . The gorgeous crocheted flower I bought from Get Creative Embellishments who are also by chance our sponsor for the month. They are so pretty and beautifully made each one so different as you will see on my second card

Similar to the first card but here I stenciled directly onto the card and then placed the stencil on top but offset it a little . I only glued it in a few places as I wanted to give the impression that it was falling off, well that’s my excuse anyway. Another beautiful flower from Get Creative embellishments and for those of you like me who suffer from bloggers blindness here’s a little close up

As I said before Get Creative embellishments are our sponsor for this month and this is a little taster of what you could win aren’t they gorgeous

Why not pop over to Get Creative to see the beautiful inspirational pieces by the other members of the DT and why not have a peep at some of our other challenges that are currently running, you have until the 29th of the month to upload your entries.

Right think I need a lie down, two posts in one day has worn me out hope I didn’t tire you all and if your emails start dinging again it’s not me I promise !!!

Take care

Get Creative Card Challenge ” Window Card “

Hello you lovelies !!!! Hope you are all well and fighting fit. It was a holiday weekend here in Greece and the sun came out the city emptied and was very peaceful, I unfortunately was unwell so was stuck at home while OTHERS  ( husband ) played tennis and frolicked in the waves . To be honest he’s not much of a frolicker but you get my drift. Due to my bed rest am a little far behind with today’s post so here goes.

Over at Get Creative its time for our first card challenge for June and this is what our leader Irini has to say:

Good morning
every one
What do you see when you look out the window in the morning?
No that is not a part of the challenge but a window is!!!!!!!!
You challenge today is to make a card with a
window on it

Now you can cut it like an aperture card
or you can stamp an image
or you can use a die cut
just let your imagination go wild!!

My take on the theme

I took the theme literally and with the aid of my Cameo created the above, the sentiment is from SU

Liked it so much I made another one !

I cut the frame using my Cameo and took a napkin and attached it to heavy card stock using Mod Podge another layer on top and then when dry cut out this section and adhered it to the card. A few beads for bling and there you have it !

As the cameo was all warmed up I made this other little number adding the DP from my stash and used a Spellbinders nestie for the heart.

This was a really fun theme and I made about eight different window cards I got a bit carried away ! More of those another day. Do pop over to Get Creative to see what my other fabulously talented team mates have come up with you may even win a prize !! This month we are being sponsored by Get Creative Embellishments check out their Etsy store lots of lovely goodies here.  You have until the 29th of the month to upload your creations so Get Creative and have some fun !

Right about time I had a peep at what all of you fabulous crafters have been up to !!
see Ya !

Get Creative Card Challenge May 20th

Good Morning Bloggers !!!! As it’s the 20th of the month its time for our card challenge over at Get Creative and we where given a wonderful sketch to work with. Now I hope you can all bear with me on this one and ignore any grammatical and spelling mistakes in this post as I seem to have mis- placed my glasses ! We had a little party here last night until the small hours and on arising  rather late I may add it seems they have disappeared !! Even the spare pair have legged it !!! So am definitely suffering from bloggers blindness and coupled with well shall we say with  a little over indulgment it all adds up to a bit of a pigs ear in the blogging department. Dont you just hate spell check !!! too many choices and none of them I can see properly so sorry !.

I used some of my new stash from Aintree finally !!  I emossed the background with a lovely new folder from Sizzix ( sorry box in the bin !! ) The stamp is from the vintage oval labels set by Just Rite and used the coordinating Spellbinders die to cut the aperture. A second Just Rite stamp for the sentiment  also with a Spellbinders  label die. I used SU Rich Razzlebury and Marina Mist inks. For the flowers  ( well they where flowers to begin with ) I cut up some Sfragidomania chipboard inked it in Rich Razzlebury and the double embossed it with UTEE. Added some over -sized pearls to the centre and some ribbon from my stash.

Here is the gorgeous sketch we had been given to inspire us and hopefully you !

Do pop over to Get Creative to see the beautiful and inspiring inspirational  pieces from the rest of our Design Team and who knows you may be one of our lucky winners. There’s  a fabulous prize for our lucky winner from the very generous Celine Navarro of Green Frog Studio check out our blog for all of the details.

Right am off out for a spot of lunch , well as soon as I’ve found my glasses and done the washing up !!!

Marie

Hello all from a gloriously sunny Thessaloniki  and about time too !! It’s the 5th of the month and time for a new card challenge over at Get Creative where our lovely leader Irini is asking us to create a card using a wreath . Instead of following the bosses orders and what a lovely, talented and creative person she is  ( do you think that’s enough crawling ! ) I decided to make a wreath without a card ! and here it is ….. I took a simple wreath made from polystyrene and wrapped it with various pieces of ribbon and fabric. I used heart pins to secure it and then used a gorgeous chipboard wreath which was kindly denoted to the Get Creative DT by Sfragidiomania covered it with pink Stazon and then double embossed it with UTEE . I made a rolled flower with some lovely striped DP don’t remember who’s,  what a surprise  ! Secured it to the wreath with another pin and there you have it. Do pop over to Get Creative to see the Design Teams amazing cards I was totally blown away when I saw them and also see the fabulous prize by our very generous sponosor Celine Navarro  fromThe Green Frog Studio   I  would like to say a big thank you to all of you who have followed me over to WordPress it means so much to me, I had over 220 followers on blogger and lost them all when I moved over here so it’s lovely to see so many friendly faces . The last eight months has been a real roller coaster ride for me and I’m eternally grateful that you have been here for me. Before I forget,  for the cheekier amongst you , no,  that was definitely not a picture of hubby on my last post,  hubby has a beard !!!   Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.   Marie

Get Creative 20th April Card Sketch Challenge

Its time for our last challenge of the month over at Get Creative and our lovely and talented  leader Irini has given us the following sketch to work with.

Image

The design team have been very generously given a gorgeous goody bag of chipboard elements to play with and use in our creations by the fantastic sfragidomania.

Image

Here is my take on the Sketch

Image

I cut several square frames with my Cameo and stamped with a baroque stamp and inked the edges. Layered them one on top of the other to give dimension. I used a Sizzix embossing folder with shattered glass effect and ran a piece of acetate through it in the Big Shot. The chipboard chandelier was inked with Stazon in black and then three layers of clear UTEE were added. Some pearls from my stash. I also added UTEE to the sentiment wich was also generated by my Cameo. I was trying to give the impression of a fallen chandelier , it’s a bit of a standing joke in our house when something goes wrong then someone usually trots out the phrase ” it was like that when I got here ” on showing this to my husband though he didn’t get the joke so I hope some of you do ! Sorry about the rubbish photo but as most of you know acetate is a bit on the tricky side to photograph.

Do pop over to Get Creative to see what my fabulous team mates have come up with to inspire you and the see the fabulous prize that is on offer. We have once again been sponsored by the very generous Tina Suitella .

I am a little behind in commenting this week as my New I Pad fell into a bucket of water ( don’t ask !!! ) and am in mourning for its loss. I usually take it to work with me to help with my commenting , lucky i am the boss ! Due to its sudden demise and until I get a replacement I hope you can all bear with me.

Right that’s me folks off to earn a penny or too

Take care

Get Creative Card Challenge ” Use Stickers ” and Goodbye Dolly Daydreams Hello baileyrosy !!!!

Goodbye Blogger Hello WordPress !! This is my first post from my new blogging home. After weeks of Blogger messing me around and not publishing my posts I have finally and to use the words of a lovely blogging friend , Lynne from Adorn ,” moved over to the other side”  !!! I would just like to thank everyone who has popped over to support me , thank you all so much, blogger friends are the best !!!

Over at Get Creative we have a new challenge up and running and an interesting one it is too ! Our lovely leader Irini has asked us to use stickers on our cards, no background papers just stickers. Well I nearly came unstuck myself with this one ! I must be one of the few crafters who doesn’t have any , luckily Irini came to the rescue with these beauties ,  and when she revealed where they came from I nearly fell off my chair but more of that later.

Do you think the photo is big enough !!! As its my first post here am trying out all of the possibilities until I find out what suits me best so please bear with me. I used those pesky Gilding flakes to make the background, I do remember saying I wouldn’t use them again due to the fact that they attached themselves to everything inside the craft cave  including the mischievous mutts Bailey  and Rosy . However I felt they were a fitting backdrop to the gorgeous stickers and reminded me of an old mirror. This time I had problems sticking the flakes to the background ,after several attempts and lots of cussing I discovered that I was using glass primer instead of the appropriate glue. These flakes and I do not go well together ! In the centre of the frame I used a piece of transparency that I had printed this lovely flourish on to. The grey card was distressed and I used Stazon gold ink around the edges. The Lovely frames are from a Childrens toy store Jumbo which is here in Greece and the last place `I would have imagined finding these beauties.

Do pop over to Get Creative to see what my fabulously talented team mates have come up with to inspire you . We have lots of very interesting challenges this month, sometimes I wish I wasn’t on the DT so I could take part.

We are sponsored this month by the lovely Tina Suitella who has been so very generous with her fabulous gifts , she also is a very talented crafter so why not pop over and check out her blog .

I do hope that this post finds you all, I have been on a roller coaster ride this month and was very close to packing it all in a few times. I would love to hear your comments and get your feed back on my new blog and if any of you have any suggestions on how I can improve it please do let me know.

Now I really do hope I can’t catch up with you all !

Take care

Marie
