This is going to be a lengthy post so if anyone wants to leave now please raise your hand and you will be excused, for those of you who are staying ,you have been warned so eyes down for a full house ! Over at Addicted to Stamps its time for our second bingo challenge and we would love for you to play along with us this is our little bingo card .
Here is my take on the sketch
I chose die cuts, free and pearls but I see it also fits the gems, die cuts and flowers category is this legal !! I mean I’m on the DT so I should know shouldn’t I !
I used my Cameo to create the sentiment and to die cut the sheep and the oval acetate with the flowers, the frame was a gift from my boss Irini at Get Creative and the pearls from my stash but the main item the knitting on the cocktail sticks , which incidentally is a broach so can be detached from the card and worn was made by my lovely sister Karen who also sells them along with lots of other fabulous creations in her Etsy shop. These little broaches are so fab and funky , she also makes them without pins which are perfect as embellishments for cards and scrapbooking.
There is little story that I would like to share behind this card and do hope you take the time to read this as I’m dedicating this to my lovely and very talented younger sister Karen. Now Karen, and I hope she doesn’t mind me telling you has been ill for quite some years and has been virtually house bound ,an avid knitter and a very prolific on at that, had to give up her passion many years ago when she became ill. In May when I visited her and stayed with her lovely family she had recently undergone surgery and was on the slow road to recovery. I urged her to attend a craft exhibition that was taking place at that time and on the last day we went together. She really enjoyed it and we both bought some long stitch and cross stitch kits. That was three months ago and wow what a change ! she has opened an Etsy shop Tricky Little Stiches with her beautiful knitting , baby samplers, knitted broaches , started a blog Tricky Little Stiches , joined a crochet group all in such a short space of time , I’m so proud of her . Not only have I seen this lovely lady overcome so many health issues but she is finally doing the things she loves and embarking on new crafty projects all of the time. She has left me breathless with creativity and her enthusiasm and am so happy for her and her family who have been so supportive , especially her husband Joe who has taken her to practically every wool and craft shop in the North West of England and is so happy to do it. I can honestly say that crafting has given her a new lease of life.
Thought I would share another card with you which also is following the die cut, pearl and free line. I used my Cameo to create the background paper and die cuts, added the red pearls and the sentiment is SU.
I do hope you find time to join us this week at Addicted to Stampsand why not pop over and see what the gorgeous gals on the DT have come up with to inspire you. I must say these are a fabulous group of talented crafters and not only that they are hilarious you should read their blogs very entertaining indeed !
DT call at CraftyCardmakers
One more thing before I go, just wanted to mention that CraftyCardmakers is back after a month-long absence and our current challenge is up and running and our theme is sport. I was unable to take part this time so don’t have a card to share with you but the rest of the DT have once again produced some fabulous projects, and if that wasn’t enough we are having a DT call so please pop over to CraftyCardmakers for all the deets.
Right I thing that’s just about it and I thank you all for your patience, that’s if there’s anyone still here !
Time for me to put the doglets to bed and lather up with the mozzie cream.
Sweet dreams to all
Marie

Wonderful piece. Love the knitting. We used to make those little knitty brooches at school when I was teaching, it was always fun! Valerie
What a fabulous pair of cards Marie! I love the quirkiness of the first with its fabulous frame and detachable brooch (have just popped across to Karen’s blog and her work is gorgeous!) The second card is really striking too – your cards are always completely unique. Vicky x
Firstly, your cards are amazing. As soon as I saw your first card, I thought the knitting was just fantabulous and the look on the sheeps face is priceless. Just stunning! Secondly, you now have to give your sister a big Aussie hug and kiss from me and then she has to give you one back from me too. Photographic evidence would be fantastic 😉 xx
Oh wow Hun these are just amazing, the detail is just fantastic Hun,and oh I love that knitting its amazing, stunning hugs Cherylxxxxxxx
I totally love your card Marie. That gorgeous little knitted embellishment is terrific. Well done to you for taking the time to make it.
What an absolutely heart warming story about your sister. You must be so proud of her. I’m off to check out her Etsy store now. x
Sister, sisters, there were never such devoted sisters! Marie, I have to give it to you – that card is a masterpiece! Have been to visit Karen, so glad you gave her a big shove (I mean encouraged her) to get back into crafting (I bet you’re the bossy older sister!). TTFN, Suze xx
Wonderful cards Marie and its a terrific story about your sister, will pop over to Etsy shortly. Annette x
Marie, A beautiful post that might well bring tears to your dear sister’s eyes. She is obviously a lady that is brimming with talent, to make such a cute little mini sweater as that. It is lovely to know she has overcome so much and is now embracing what she loves in life, creating. Creating brings so much to a person’s life but undoubtedly when they are ill or recovering it can have the biggest positive impact on their day. Bravo to Karen.
As for your cards – no, 1 super cute! No, 2 is so striking.
Off to visit Karen.
Wishes
Lynne
WOW!! Amazing!! creativity, Marie. Your work on the Cameo is outstanding…both your cards are fabulous!!! Your first card is so unique. Your sisters tiny knitted jumper is beautiful…such a talent! I am so pleased to hear that she has been inspired, (through you!), to do what she has. Crafting can bring so much happiness in so many different ways. You also meet so many lovely people along the way, whether it be in person, or in blog land. I am so happy for both of you!
I love how you used your Cameo to create your second card, too. You really do create some wonderful projects with your Cameo. I have the harlequin pattern, but haven’t used it, yet.
You commented on the pink wood grain on my card…that’s also a Cameo pattern.
Sending warm (((hugs))) to you and your lovely sister xx
oh how i love these two cards, esp. that first one. it’s beautiful and adorable all in one and makes me smile looking at!!
Shaun the sheep knitting is adorable Marie 🙂
Your sister is going great guns , it’s amazing how crafting and blogging helps to many 🙂

You have created beautiful original cards as usual, you have also changed a life by the sounds of it, how wonderful to have a sister like you.
I have 4 SILs but they are like sisters.
Off to see your sister’s blog now 🙂
Oh my God, I bow in respect to both you and your sister … what an amazing card, and what an amazing story your sister’s story is … so happy that she’s on the road to recovery and enjoying herself!!! It’s a talented family all around eh?
Marie – your cards are gorgeous but adore the combined effort card by the talented sisters! Fantastic cards as usual but the sheep with his woolly jumper is inspired. You’re definitely a whizz with that Cameo….. Lovely to see two sisters so supportive of each other. Just been over to visit Karen’s Etsy shop and blog (well, with a name like that it would have been rude not to…….lol) and love all her gorgeous creations – the brooches are lovely. Two very talented sisters.
Hugs.

Hi Marie, I’m definitely still here :-). Your sister sounds such an inspiration, it’s amazing how crafting gets us through some tough times – that was how I started – and so nice that she’s doing something she loves. I’m off to have a look in her Etsy shop after I’ve written this, now you just know I’ll be looking at baby samplers :-)!
What gorgeous cards, I’m absolutely in love with the sheep one, it’s soooo cute and that frame is stunning! I love your creativity with the cameo.
I’m so sorry I’ve not been back to you yet. I’m having problems with my Hotmail, in that I can’t get in the flippin’ thing to send you an email! Not sure if it’s just me or if the service is down – hopefully the latter. Can you please drop me an email at maria.green28@yahoo.co.uk so that I can send you a reply? My daughter’s little bundle of joy is the reason for my lack of activity over the last few days – he is soooo beautiful, I just can’t stop looking at him, lol.
Speak soon
