Get Creative August 5th Card Sketch

Good morning ladies and gents hope you are all fighting fit and enjoying your Sunday where ever you are. Another short post from me as the internet here is still rubbish and have been trying for the last hour to post this . The ” lecky “man is due to pull the plug on us here in the city within the next hour ( at least we get a warning ) so will try to make this quick , you lucky things !

Over at Get Creative its time for our card sketch challenge which has been created for us by our lovely and talented leader Irini and here it is

Here is my take on the sketch

I took a little liberty with the sketch and instead of adding a sentiment I stuck this cheeky little owl in the centre. I made him with one of my Sizzix embossing folders and cut around him, added the googly eyes and painted his little beak. The wood grain stamp is SU coloured with Espresso ink by Adirondack and matted onto green cardstock, I used my Spellbinders square dies for the centre ( just kidding wanted to see if you are paying attention ) popped up with foam dots for dimension and attached some tiny weeny dry leaves,  all done and dusted.

I do hope you will take time out from your busy schedules to join us at Get Creative this month and as we are still in holiday mode we will be having only one layout and one card challenge , why not pop over to see the wonderful and inspiring creations by my fellow DT members and for you scrappers have a peep at our current sketch challenge,  our sketch DT once again have produced more stunning layouts. You have until the 30th of August to upload to Get Creative and you could be one of our lucky winners. We have been sponsored by Get Creative Embellishments who will be offering our two challenge winners something amazing from their Etsy shop.

Now wasn’t that quick and painless ! nothing to do with the fact that i’m off for lunch by the sea with a girlfriend !

  1. WOW love it love it love it, great take on the challenge, great ideas here especially the wood grain.

Hope your electric won’t be off for long. Enjoy your lunch by the sea, not that I’m jealous or anything. It’s raining here with black clouds, bet you wish you were here!

  2. Enjoy your day and I hope the lecky isn’t off for too long

The card is brill and the owl makes it special

    Love Chrissie xxxxxx

  3. As I started to read my expectations were stylish and elegant and then I saw your cheeky owl and it made me laugh Marie! Love the wood grain and the way the owl is peeping from within the tree and not sitting on a branch:) Fab card Marie. Enjoy your lunch by the sea (she said through gritted teeth as she heard the rain hammering down) 🙂

  4. I love the wooden effect you’ve given this card and the cheeky little owl, although I have to see the one I actually held on my arm last week was even cheekier. This is a really lovely card, just full of character.Well done!

  5. I think Suze Bain is on the right track. Perhaps the electricity bill might be more important than buying all those copics you’ve been talking about 😉

I love this card, Marie. Very cute and cheeky. I like your take on the sketch and I’m going to go check out the blog xx

  6. I love this cheeky little owl Marie – he has something of Orville about him! I love the woodgrain and your other stylish touches like the lime edging. Lunch by the sea sounds perfect (although I immediately mentally added my brolly! Think I definitely need a blue-sky holiday!) Vicky x

  7. Adore your cheeky little owl, peeking through the knot hole!!

I sent the following via an email, but I’m not sure of the address, so I’m pasting it here. You’re so sweet! I have no idea what Rachel uses to wash Dukey! I can ask her, but she is a rummage/garage sale, thrift store kind of girl, so she probably uses whatever she finds and has on hand. Or maybe she uses her own soap. Now you have me curious! I’ll let you know!

    Happy Crafting,

    Darnell

  8. Hi Marie,

Sorry I’m only just here. I was using my iPad all yesterday, and I think that if I comment on your blog using the filppin thing, my message disappears into cyber space. Anyhow, at almost 2.30 a.m. I’m finally here…using my PC!
Your card is really sweet. You always come up with something really creative. I love your cheeky googly eyed owl, and tree…complete with foilage!! Your wood grain stamp gives such a fab effect.
I hope you enjoyed lunch by the sea with your friend. That sounds fabulous! I am so envious of your beautiful weather, Marie.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments on my blog…I really do appreciate it xxx

  9. καλημερα Ομορφη..να σαι καλα..την λατρεψα την καρτα..υπεροχη..και συ να χεις ενα χαρουμενο Καλοκαιρι..σε φιλω ματια μου..

  10. Hi Marie, your little owl is gorgeous! I love how he’s peeping out, and that woodgrain stamp is fabulous. I’m sure you’ll be forgiven for swapping a sentiment for him. Lunch by the sea sounds great – our nearest water is the duckpond, but somehow it’s just not the same with our Northwest weather, lol.

    Bye for now

    Maria xxxxx

(Btw, there is THE cutest teabag hat in your sister’s shop!!! )

  11. What a cutie he is peeking out of that hole and I love how you added the leaves instead of the flourish on the sketch :0)
Sorry I’m playing catch up…this summer is just crazy busy!!!
