Crafty Cardmakers Challenge 59 No Floral Embellishments.

The day did not start off on the right foot  we had an earthquake this morning in Thessaloniki at around 5.30 am,  not a big one but enough to wake us and move our bed around a little. Now anyone who lives in areas where earthquakes are prevalent will tell you that it is not so much the shaking that is scary ( and I’m talking about the buildings here not me ) its the loud noise it makes. Needless to say didn’t get much sleep after that waiting for the after shocks ( there where three ) .  On to happier things !!

Today is my first Design Team piece for Crafty Cardmakers and  I am so excited to part of this wonderfully talented team of ladies and gents ( well gent actually ) nice to have a guy on the team.

Our challenge which has been chosen by the lovely Fiona is  ” No Floral Embellishments ” Fiona has this to say : You can use flower backing paper, flowers in your image but NO floral embellishments of any kind, (  so please read the small print lol! ) my words not Fiona’s

Our fantastic sponsors are :  One Stop Card Crafts who are offering a ten pounds gift voucher and Digi Doodle Shop who are offering a ten dollar gift voucher which can be redeemed at their stores.

So without further ado here is my DT piece

Here I have used paper from the Pyrus paper pad and embossed it with this lovely Sizzix embossing folder. I then paper pieced the pears using  the same DP,  added red and green stickles to the little birdies and the flowers and distressed and coloured the edges. Would also like to link this to Allsorts challenge blog who are asking us to create a card using paper piecing .
Here I have printed a floral image from my Silhouette onto silk fabric. For the rest of my card I have used felt, the frame was cut using one of my spellbinders dies and the border with Sizziz floral and scallop die. I double embossed them both with another favourite sizzzix embossing folder using SU Rich Razzlebury ink which just about shows up on the photo ! My little birdie from Silhouette also printed onto silk and sits  atop the frame it has been a while since he made an appearance and has been begging to get back into the lime light !
I do hope you will pop over to Crafty Cardmakers to see what the other members of the design team have come up with to inspire you and maybe even take part you could be one of our lucky winners !
Right am off to give Rosy and Bailey ( the dogs ) a bath they are still blinged up from their close encounter with the glitter !

Take care

Marie

  1. Hi Marie. Pleased to hear the earthquake didn't cause any damage. Wonderful projects. Really unique and unusual. Love the pears on the first one. Thats a great embossing folder (TFS). Lovely to see you using felt again. Printing on to silk! wow! pretty impressive.Take careFlorence xx

  2. Both of your creations are gorgeous pieces of artwork, Marie. Love the floral image from Silhouette. It looks fabulous framed:)Those earthquakes would freak me out!! LOL. We had one here last year. It wasn't that bad, but as you said, it's the weird noise and then everything seems so eerily quiet afterwards. Also, it was in the middle of the night and I was home alone! xx

  3. fabulous cards!! Oh I cant wait till I see these cards up close, the printing on silk is wildly inspiring!I love your use of different materials…just gorgeous! So the earth moved for you did it??? hehehehehehugzda boss

  4. Hi Marie, an earthquake … scary or what! Thankfully, you are okay but I can quite see why you didn't get any sleep after that. You got round the 'no floral embellishments' requirement very nicely. Love what you've done with the pears in the first and the floral image in the second is gorgeous. Elizabeth x

  5. Hi Marie the printed onto fabric technique has worked really well, however that embossed, simple and elegant card is the show-stealer for me, it is just gorgeous.Annex

  6. HI Marie, glad you are all ok and not affected too much by the earthquake – what a surprise though.Love your cards, the embossing folder looks good and I like the way you added the stickles and the one with felt is super too.Take care of yourself.luv and hugs {brenda} xoxox

  9. Hi Marie, OOh I don't think I'd like an earthquake let alone at 5.30am and aftershocks? Oh no poor you!!Two fabulous cards, I love the fabric printing that you did with your silhouette, you use such interesting textures in your cards! Love them, Gay xxx

  12. Well, the earth certainly moved for you yesterday morning! Glad that you're all ok though :o) Love the little pears on the first card and the felt card is stunning, love the blue frame. Take care. Suze xx

  13. I was here yesterday and left without leaving you a comment! DUH! EARTHQUAKE! Not a good way to begin your day and you sound so calm. I know that part of the world is prone to shakes – not nice. I've never been in one, I can only imagine! As usual your cards are a delight. I really adore the paper piecing one with the pears … something about it is very special. Take care, Marie … and the doglets — I'll bet they reacted to the shakeup. We had a very small jolt on Vancouver Island once which I didn't even feel and my dog went crazy. They seem to know when it's coming. xoDonna

  14. Fantastic makes Marie! I love how you did the first one – brilliant idea!Believe it or not, we had an earthquake here about 27 years ago. I remember my washing line vibrating like mad and I wondered what was going on. It sounded like a giant truck was about to crash into the house – horrible! Hope you're all okay.xx

  15. Oh my word, beautiful cards Marie – I especially love how you've embossed the first one. Glad to hear you're ok after the earthquake – sounds pretty scary. I'll bet Rosy and Bailey are still wearing glitter after their bath?Take care, Maria x

  16. Love what you did with the pears on the embossed panel Marie 🙂 Two stunning cards.I've only experienced one quake in the UK which just made the house creek and woke me up so can't imagine what some of this stronger tremors must feel and sound like!!!Jenny x

  17. Wow, sounds like an exciting beginning to the day, Marie! We had one back in the summer, the first to actually make the the house really shake on and on and on and yes, the noise was awful.Love your artwork, especially the one with the amazing Sizzix embossed background. Beautiful work.

  18. Stunning cards, I adore them both, especially the first one with amazing attention to detail! Thanks for entering our Paper Piecing challenge over at Allsorts this week and good luck!Hugs Nicola xxx

  19. Two fabulous creations Marie. How on earth you cope with an earthquake is beyond me and to be so blase about it too! Hope you managed to de-bling the dogs!Happy New YearLin

  20. Thank goodness you're ok Marie. I must say, dear old Blighty can be cold and grey but it is quite peaceful on the earthquake front! Your DT pieces are wonderful as always – especially the one with the paper-pieced pears. What a stroke of genius that was! Vicky x
