The Craft – Room Challenge ” Add Fabric “

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening to you all ! Firstly some fantastic news ! I found my glasses , well one pair at least and guess where !! in the fridge of course , the most logical place wouldn’t you agree , goodness knows where the second pair is, I dread to think ! The second piece of news is that I got top three at Make My Monday sooooo excited about that.  Am trying to take part in a few challenges lately to get the old mojo back in gear and I noticed that The Craft-Room is having a super challenge hosted by the lovely and talented Maria who is asking us to add fabric to our project . Now Maria loves to make hangings and beautiful ones at that  she always has some fabric somewhere on her gorgeous creations so it came as no surprise when she chose this theme.

Well I do hope that this card of mine fits the bill as its taken 18 hours of sewing to make it  and bloggers blindness is back in full !! When I was in The UK I bought a long stitch kit,  goodness knows what came over me as my two sons and husband will testify I can’t even sew a button on properly ! My boys learnt to sew from an early age  ( and iron ) as they are both pet hates of mine,  thank goodness hubby is an excellent sewer and ironer ( among other things ) Sew when I showed the boys the kit they thought it was a present for them !!!! Anyways when I saw the challenge at the Craft-Room I was determined to finish the piece and I just about made it , so if it doesn’t qualify I think Im going to burn it ! so here it is my first ever attempt … please be gentle with me.

I kept the card very simple as I wanted the sewing to be the star attraction, I cut a frame with my Cameo and the oval border which was coloured with Pan Pastels ( love these ) Stamped a butterfly with blue Stazon onto some leather and die cut with a co-ordinating die from Hero arts. Sizzix embossing folder at the bottom and a few green pearls and there you have it !

Do pop over to The Craft -Room to see the fabulous inspirational pieces by the DT they also have a great Sponsor this month Indigo Blu so definitely worth  entering I love their stuff and bought a ton in Aintree !

Right off to work now and who knows maybe I will discovering glasses number two maybe in the oven !!!

Take care

Marie

  1. Good morning Marie! Congratulation on your distinction on Make my Monday! I hope you will find and the second pair of your glass and this time somewhere hotter! Ha ha! Your card is absolutely gorgeous! You stitch it by yourself? Wow!!!

  2. Wow Marie! A stunning piece of embroidery which makes such a lovely card with the pretty butterfly and clean and simple design.
Glad you found the glasses and I always find missing stuff in the least imaginable place too, normally the last one I’d think of looking lol
Congratulations on your well deserved top 3 too – we all loved your card loads.
    Hugs, Fliss xx

  3. Hi Marie. Beautiful card. A real treasure. Pleased to hear you found your specs! I bet you look a real cool dude in them now! LOL!
    Regards Florence xx

  4. Firstly Marie congrats on coming top 3 at MMM your card was gorgeous! This card is a work of art and you should frame it. I love longstitch embroidery, it was a hobby my mother enjoyed and as I sit here now I can see the beautiful framed piece that she gave me many years ago 🙂

  5. Congratulations on your news Marie. Loving your card with all its yarn textures, and its a fab start to sewing long stitch. Best of luck finding your specs. Hugs Annette x

  6. Now that is one thing I do NOT do, I haven’t the patience for embroidery, but it looks so beautiful when done and your is no exception, this is gorgeous, clever clogs!

  7. 2 pairs of glasses and they both evaded you LOL have you checked the tea pot? (do you have such a thing?)

Your stitched card is stunning as always you tell us you cannot do things that you are in fact very good at! Love this card, thank you for making and sharing with us at Craft-Room Challenge XOXO Zoe

  8. Hi..your card is a masterpiece and it certainly does fit the challenge. It’s beautiful and I admire you for challenging yourself. Congrats on the top 3 for MMM …it was unanimous decision. Thank you for sharing with us at the Craft Room “use fabric” challenge this fortnight. Suzanne:)

  9. I adore embroidery (looking at it that is, I hate to think of the result if I attempted to make it myself!) and no-one would ever imagine that this was your first piece! I just love the colours you’ve used in this too – just gorgeous. Glad to hear you found one pair of specs – now you can put them on and look for the other pair! And congratulations on your very well-deserved win at Make My Monday! Vicky x

  10. This is beautiful Marie! No one would think it was your first attempt – it’s so neat! I love the leather butterfly too.
Glad you found your glasses, lol!

  11. Hi Marie, how gorgeous is this, love those colours, I wouldn’t ever give this to anyone, I would keep it myself as it’s sew beautiful. Don’t talk to me about glasses. I lost a pair a couple of months ago (think I may have thrown them away with some of my craft rubbish), then I broke a pair at yoga last week and this morning I trod on my last remaining pair, so having to wear my contacts till I get a new pair, think I need to start wearing them around my neck on a chain LOL!! xx

  12. Big congrats on your win at MM Marie, it really was a beautiful card and hats off to you for this embroidered card – I can appreciated just how much work went into it and you’ve done a fabulous job – your boys must be proud! xx

  13. Oh Marie, this is gorgeous (hello, by the way!)! 18 hours!!! Well worth it, as it really is stunning – you have the patience of a saint, girl! By the way, congratulations on your top 3 at MMM – your creations are so stylish and beautiful, so I’m not suprised :-). Sorry I’ve not gotten to comment on your card until now – we’re hoping to complete our new house next Friday so it’s all systems go at the moment, and sooooooo stressful :-(. It’s lovely to see you over at the CRC, thanks for joining in with the challenge.

    Take care Marie
    Maria x

  14. Looking at this I would never have believed that you ‘can’t sew’. I think it fits the challenge perfectly! I’ve never done any long stitch, I was always a cross stitch girl myself…. now the only time on use any of the 100’s of floss colours I own, is on cards.

  15. Ha ha….. Where else would such a cool person keep their specs!!!!
Your long stitch is perfect in my eyes so you can put aside the ‘can’t sew’ comment I think ….. Keep up the pretence for the family though *wink* :0)
such a beautiful image, I love blue poppies.

  17. Beautiful card, Marie! I am sorry I hadn’t put two and two together and realised it was you! That needlework looks stunning. Glad I’ve found your new (or not so new!) blog x

  18. A beautiful card Marie, your needlework is gorgeous. Congratulations on your top three and thank you for joining us at Craft-Room Challenge.
    xxx Hazel.

  19. Oh my word. 18 hours?! I totally think this needs to be framed, then! GORGEOUS embroidery–and I am seriously impressed that you stuck it out so long! This is STUNNING!!!

  20. Great news on the glasses front Marie, I don’t loose mine I destroy them, I feel loosing them might be slightly better, dunno……
Anyway, fab card, love the embroidery, well worth all that effort I’m so impressed, LOL xxxx

  21. Well, I have heard of glasses being found in some strange place but this takes the biscuit, did giggle though, check the washing machine.
Come clean, boys did it, or hubby, you can tell me I’m a Doctor. but well done you if you did do it, it is brilliant.

    Kath x

  22. Well!!! What can I say, Marie? Those eighteen hours of stitching were well worth the effort…your embroidery is amazing!! So much TLC has gone into your work and it should be placed into a lovely frame xx

  23. Wow, when we bought those kits in Aintree, I really didn’t think that we would get around to making them, you because I know how incredibly busy you are and me because I didn’t think that I could do it, but seeing this has inspired me to get mine out and have a go! Fantastic, I love the embroidery of course but the fact that you didn’t over embellish the card is wonderful too, and you know how I love pearls!
    Well done X

  24. With only one week left until Father¡¯s Day time, I¡¯m sure a large amount of you are still scrambling to often look for the perfect gift in your dear old Dad. How about a very snazzy watch? Citizen sent me among their latest Eco-Drive designer watches – the CA0467-11H Eco-Drive Primo Chronograph Watch to be exact to test. With a racing inspired design, this is a cool watch that will keep time and switch heads. Let¡¯s take a more detailed look. And of course the item offers the ultra-convenient (along with eco-friendly) charging design which is powered by light – just about any light. It never requires a battery change all of which will charge in the solar, in the house, anywhere where there¡¯s background light. When fully charged, it will run for about 6 months. Light is absorbed from the crystal and the dial the location where the solar cell converts this light to energy.

Although the watch doesn¡¯t have an uncomplicated to see charging rank indicator, when the reserve strength becomes too low, the 2nd hand will become moving in 2 second increments as opposed to 1 second increments. This is an alert to tell you it¡¯s time to orient the Primo to direct light. Placing the watch within a window sill on a new sunny day for 5-6 hours will fully charge that. I wanted to begin with a little Gadgeteer trivia¡ Fourteen years ago, back in 1999, we posted a writeup on then brand new Citizen Eco-Drive watch. That review continues to create our yearly top 25 most read reviews even after all these years. That goes to present that Citizen Watch Provider and Eco-Drive watches are as popular as ever. It¡¯s easy to see why these watches are consequently popular. The new Primo watch incorporates a sporty style that shows a chunky stainless steel grey ion-plated case as well as a clear mineral crystal. It has a 1/5 second chronograph measuring up to 60 minutes, tachymeter, rotating 360 degree bezel and is water resistant to 250 meters. http://www.ekologistika.com/
