Colorful Options Yellow,Purple and Green

Happy New Year !!! Here’s hoping 2025 finds you all well and looking forward to this new year. What better way to start it than by getting out those new crafting supplies you were gifted or the ones you treated yourselves to and play along with our challenge at Colorful Options.

This January, we are playing with another trio of colors: yellow, purple, and green!  Choose one, two, or all three—whatever inspires you most! Let your imagination run wild and see where these colors take you. We can’t wait to see how this inspiration board sparks your designs.

If these colors aren’t quite your style, don’t worry! You’re also welcome to join us with a rainbow-inspired craft. Have fun, and let yourself enjoy!

This card came together really quickly using this gorgeous Spellbinders die set Towering Blooms, coloured with Distress Oxides in Squeezed Lemon, Wilted Violet, and Seedless Preserves, mounted with a lashing of foam tape onto a white card base As I said, it came together really quickly, and boy did it need to, as I’ve been working 12-hour days for three weeks nonstop. I do believe the crafting gods were looking down on me.

We do hope you will play along with us at Colorful Options. My Design Teammates have created some amazing cards to delight and Inspire, and we have a fabulous guest designer this month, Cez from MumCez Craft Room, joining us.

I’ll be back in a few days with some exciting news so until then

Wishing you all a happy, healthy 2025

Colorful Options March 2024 “Green”

A big thank you to all who participated in our pink challenge at Colorful Options we had so many amazing entries it was so difficult to choose our top three.

This month we challenge you to use green as your inspiration. ANY shade or interpretation of green is welcome.

Please remember that you may incorporate any neutrals or metallics you need in your design and that your make does not need to be monochromatic. If green is not to your liking, join us with a rainbow-inspired craft.

This time, I decided to make a card and a piece of home decor.

I used these fabulous small butterfly dies from a Pocket Full of Happiness for my card. To create the background I took a piece of acetate and added lashings of glossy accents and drops of distress oxides in various colours. I added cling film on top and smooshed it around until I got the desired effect and then left it to dry which took for everrrrrrrr. `I then cut the background to size and added it behind the negative space of the butterflies and then added the butterflies on top.I found this technique ages ago somewhere online but can’t for the life of me find the source to give them credit nor does this photo show the lovely rippled effect it has but hey ho that’s the joy of trying to take a photo of glossy, shiny things.

My next piece may seem a little random but I’ve been playing with my electronic needle felting machine lately and this is what I came up with.

This is such a fun technique and great for using scraps of leftover material. To make this I took a piece of thin felt as a base and laid silk strips on top. For those of you who don’t know what this machine does, it’s basically a sewing machine with lots of needles and no thread and you just run it over the material and it punches it into the base adhering the top to the bottom. I just kept going until I got the look I required. It’s quite addictive. I then cut the piece down to fit my frame and there you have it.

We do hope you will join us at Colorful Options why not pop over and see what my wonderful team mates have come up with and delight and inspire.

I’m also playing along with Time Out Challenges

NBUS challenge#60 as my butterflies are fresh out of the packet

Wishing you all a fabulous weekend.
