Colorful Options July Challenge Choose your Favourite Flag.

Welcome back to another fun challenge at Colorful Options where our theme for this month is to use your favourite flag as inspiration to create a card or a project of your choice.

This was an easy challenge for me and my cards came together quickly. Instead of using the Greek flag (I’ve lived in Greece longer than I lived in the UK) I was inspired by a country that has been on my bucket list for years and there’s a possibility I might be able to realise my dream this Septemeber.

Can you guess which country it is by looking at my cards?

For my first card, I used my brand new Silhouette Cameo 5 to cut out the sweet couple and used Poppy Stamps Nordic Flourish Background behind them.I also used the same background for my second card together with another Poppy Stamps Nordic die in butterfly form, all popped up with a touch of foam for dimension. A few enamel dots strategically placed and other you have it! Did you guess which country’s flag inspired me? Japan !!! I’ve always wanted to visit and maybe this year will be the year !!! fingers crossed.

I’m also playing along with NBUS challenge # 64 as my Poppy Stamps Butterfly and floral background are having their first outing.

We do hope you will join us at Colorful Options we would love to see which flag inspires you, but fear not you can play along using rainbow colours if you aren’t inspired by a particular flag and you aren’t limited to cards any crafty project is welcome.

In other news Greece is sweltering with the highest temperatures ever recorded for this time of year it’s so unbearably hot especially when I return home up a steep hill with my high heels on, thank goodness for air conditioning.

Take care

Marie

  1. I guessed right away, Marie! Probably because I’ve always wanted to visit Japan, too! Take me with?

Both of your cards are so very elegant in all that white lacey gorgeousness! OH, I do admire the magic that can happen with a Silhouette – can’t wait to see more!

Take care in that heat – maybe bring a different pair of shoes for that walk home?

    • Thank you so much for your lovely comment and yes how much fun that would be to visit Japan together!!!! As for the shoes I know I’m an idiot but I always think I will make it or get a cab at least and then I end up walking all the way home.

      • Ha! You know what they say about the ‘best laid plans’ right? It has been SO long since I’ve worn heels, Marie – I wonder if I even could since I had major surgery: bunionectomy! from wearing HEELS!!

        Stay well, my friend! xx

  2. Great way to include the flag design into something so very beautiful! Wow, both designs are divine! And Yes, Japan is on my list too… though probably a little closer for me lol.

  3. OH! So VERY beautiful Marie, I guessed right, a perfect way to show off the flag, a beautiful die so intricate and a lovely way to use it. As for the Cameo? I know you will get great use out of it.

My Neice and hubby had a wonderful time travelling around Corfu recently and loved it’s beauty. Her daughter and boyfriend are there this week and loving it. We are still waiting for Summer, too much rain here. Take care in those heels 🙂

  4. Oh, Marie, I am gushing over your two sensational w-o-w designs! These could hang in an art gallery!! It looks like intricate handmade lace! Thank you for inspiring everyone to use their NBUS! I hope it cools off for you soon (same here!). Hugs, Darnell
